Karl Rove To ABC: ‘I Could’ Imagine The 2016 GOP Presidential Candidates Backing Gay Marriage
Mediaite ^ | 3/24/2013 | Garrett Quinn

Posted on 03/24/2013 8:27:51 AM PDT by markomalley

Republican strategist Karl Rove told George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week that he thinks Republican presidential candidates in 2016 could be supporters of marriage equality. Rove my the comments during a discussion on the Supreme Court’s hearing on a challenge to California’s Proposition 8 schedule for later this week.

“Karl Rove, can you imagine the next presidential campaign a Republican candidate saying flat out ‘I am for gay marriage,’” asked Stephanopoulos.

“I could,” said Rove, before turning the discussion back to the Supreme Court’s hearing on the issue.

Rove said that he thinks some Supreme Court Justices have expressed sentiments in the past that wide reaching decisions on social issues, like Rove vs. Wade, went too far and that it’s possible the court could avoid a repeat of that. There’s a possibility, he thinks, that court wants to avoid setting a national standard on the issue of gay marriage like it did on abortion and instead leave it up to the states to decided how to proceed.

“What we may see is a decision here that in essence has, not a 5-4 decision, but a 6-3, 7-2, that says leave it up to the states, in fact we could see an 8-1,” said Rove.

FOX news will pay a high price for its pandering to the liberal lobby. It used to be a station I’d watch; but over the last few years, I have watched it less and less. Now, we have dropped our cable and couldn’t care less what Rove or any of their minions say. For me, they are in the land of used to be. They used to be relevant and report in an honest fashion, they used to say things I cared about, they used to care about this country, but now they are more interested in currying favor with Obama. I hope they will be happy with the path they have chosen, but I think it will make them the next CNN.

I can imagine it too. And I can imagine 2016 being the first presidential race since 1984 where I didn’t vote (except 2004, when the state of Washington couldn’t be bothered to send me a ballot at Osan AB, Korea...).

Hey Rove you and your ill pushed this turd poking agenda onto us, you let non conservatives speak at CPAC whihc the media ran with,. you let them spout their agenda to us and have them tell us to change our views.
You attacked people like Sarah, Newt and now Cruz while telling us to accept Romney and Bush

Bush should have placed much more better judges around the country too.

If 9 people tell tens of millions of voters to ignore their votes which they did about this issue and tell states which don;t want this commie agenda and make no mistake this is and was a communist agenda then as far as I;m concerned those states should leave a failed union

Founding fathers had a dream, and it was not a bunhc of men who liek to have sex with a mans anal feces or a woman who pretends to be a guy wearing a strap on to be married and then tell the 1st amendment to be thrown away

remember religious freedom, the most basic set up of this country and did our side actually get a good lawyer who could refute the lefts radcial arguments or did they have a wishy washy useless not bothered lawyer?

I heard this morning the left’s homosexuals marriage lawyer who argued the case to the court saying he fought this on 3 counts and all of them were a cop out and easily refuted.

Let us not forget that this was brought by a woman who said she got married, then the wife or husband or what eevr they call themselves died.
She was not able to get the benefits for the milliosns she was left with.
If this was about thta case then all she had to do was to fight to get those benefits and not to have marriage redefined.

It makes me sick to read the 1963 communist rules
http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm and then have the fake infiltrating so called conservatives and republicans state the same message as the communists

the stupid party let in to many non repblicans.
We watched while the likes of Paul told us that marriage cna be anything basically.
We let them run in our primaries
we let them to places like CPAC
hel they even get onto sites like this ,though Jim and the mods do a good job of getting rid of most.

The GOP thinks liek you said that if they allow homosexuals to marry we might pick up a few votes, if we allow ilegals we might get a few votes.

Idiots, they do this and ignore millions of the base and then they wonder why they are losing.
Just because millions do not speak up which in my eyes is a mistake then it does nto mean they shoudl be ignored for a minority who have got themselves on to the media’s pay roll

Hannity has been a coward on this issue as many of talk radio has.
Coulter fought for her boy Romney and it was his state which set all of this up.
Hannity and others always stayed silent because talking about debt and health care was a safe topic for them and they don;t upset teir liberal elitist pals like Colmes, Beckel

Once marriage is redefined then polygamy should be legal and any other kind of marriage of which these turd pokers are against and yet they shout for equality

I will never accept their sham of a marriage nor is my famlily and many up in north east FL.

Any homosexuals or their supporters tell me they;re married ten they get a few choice words back at them and to hell with them

sigh, I know I know, how the party is dead to me.
Infact if the states which have normal marriage is being supported by those in their own states and they want ot leave the dream of a union but has failed then I’d support it.

Karl would make sure they got government provided lube and of course gay sex education to our 5th graders as well.

IMO there is going to be a probable revolution with at least parents as their kids are exposed to the pc police.

Granted some parents are as dumb as a brick of butter which is why they can’t get kids out of high school, but the ones with kids with a future are going to get active IMO.

The GOP is a product of the Washington belief system, aka, believing the media narrative which is controlled by the Left.

The GOP is not a party which supports the belief system of their constituency, rather a party which believes the (false) perception of the electorates’ belief system.

Just on a political front, this is a continuation of the belief that the Republican Party must continue to be more Liberal in order to be victorious, ignoring the track record that moderation is a failure in elections.

"I said it during the last campaign. We shouldn’t be surprised if we’re less than a decade from an openly gay GOP presidential candidate."

And they STILL would not get the gay democrap vote... Don't they get that?

It’s the GOPe, the culture, the younger generation, and the writing on the wall that’s led to this more than letting a few libertarians in under the conservative umbrella.
