Wounded Warrior massive FAIL on Gun Talk Radio

November 18, 2012

Steven Nardizzi, the $319k/year Executive Director of Wounded Warrior Project, fumbled badly out of the gate in his efforts to diffuse the brouhaha over his group’s refusal to participate on Gun Talk Radio last weekend on Veteran’s Day.

The whole disaster was spurred when their communications director declined the invitation to promote WWP on Gun Talk Radio because of the gun-related content of the nationally syndicated radio show.

Late last week, WWP announced their executive director would appear on Gresham’s show to clarify the WWP position, in addition to offering some weaselese language that they respected everyone’s right to their rights to gun ownership – sorta like President Obama begins his self-description. “I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but…”

Nardizzi, for being so well-paid, utterly fumbled.

He tried to spin his way out of the mess but only managed to spin himself in deeper, offering all sorts of weak excuses why WWP couldn’t partner with gun-related sponsors. He cited sponsorships with cyclists and how WWP had cut back on those sponsorships because of some sort of inferior return on investment.

Let me guess it might “offend” someone, unlike those part-tay down events with porn stars at the Playboy Mansion, that would never be seen in a negative light, nooooooo....

They would not be on my Christmas list, that is for sure.

Would someone please explain to me why there's even a need for organizations like WWP? Isn't the VA supposed to take care of the vets' needs?
If something is missing, why isn't pressure being put on the VA to improve performance?

$319K salary - sounds like it is developing into a scam operation and the idiot tipped his hand. Makes me wonder exactly what % of the contributions REALLY makes it to the wounded vets.

WWP has a very high overhead. Somewhere in the 25% range. That is why I stopped supporting them. Why too much off the top. I won’t donate to groups if the overhead is not in the single digits.

Check out John Cody aka Bobby Thompson. "Thompson" set up a bogus Navy Veterans group and then absonded with $100 Million. This news story tells all with pictures of those he conned, George Bush, etc. ...

WIKIPEDIA: US NAVY VETS

The United States Navy Veterans Association (USNVA) was a tax-exempt Veterans Organization that claimed to have a national headquarters in Washington, D.C. It claimed that its purpose was to support the U.S. Navy, and to assist veterans and members of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families.

The Association claimed to be a national organization with 43 U.S. chapters and over 66,000 members.

USNVA was the subject of recent investigative reporting, which resulted in criminal and administrative investigations in several states and the removal of its listing from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website. The organization's national headquarters in Washington DC proved to be a rented post office box, rather than an actual physical office location. USNVA operations have ceased and, after a two-year search, the leader, John Donald Cody, was arrested on April 30, 2012 in Portland, Oregon. Cody had run the organization under the alias "Bobby Thompson", and authorities were at first unable to determine his real name. However, on October 1, 2012, it was announced that Cody's identity had been determined using fingerprint records.

Liberals are attracted to executive positions in foundations and charities like magnets—You don’t have to be very smart, you don’t have to work too hard, and you get to play with other people’s money.

You hit the nail on the head!

I have held back on this organization, waiting to find out how much does go to the vets.
Looks like the truth is starting to come out now. What a shame that ppl are making money off of our wounded millitary!

Sounds like Operation Homefront, they started out great but worked people to the bone then stole the money from the local organizations to fund their national organization. They are just using the vets as a paycheck.

Yep. Tons of these groups and orgs out there. Many are simply run for the benefit of the executives.

Komen gives what, 20% towards “research”?? Most goes to fundraising, lobbying and to Planned Parenthood and stuff

You can’t turn on a TV without running into one of their ads for WWP. That stuff costs mucho dinero. Their “administrative costs” must be sky high.
