The adults at Hostess give a reality lesson to Obama’s union children

This is the end of Hostess Bakery Company. It was started in 1930 and died a few days after Barack Obama was reelected. The smiles have barely left the faces of his supporters, and now thousands of them across the country are being fired and laid-off.

“We deeply regret the necessity of today’s decision, but we do not have the financial resources to weather an extended nationwide strike.

Hostess Brands will move promptly to lay off most of its 18,500-member workforce and focus on selling its assets to the highest bidders.” With these 45 words the world has been turned upside down for “proud and determined” union members who were going to “show Hostess how things will be from now on.”

Instead they got a smack across the nose and a clear lesson about how an economy really works.

These 18,500 people have been led into a strike they never had a chance of winning. They foolishly believe Obamanomics works because their leaders told them so. Commies and union leaders lie.

The unions involved were thoroughly warned that a strike would mean the end of Hostess, but alas they didn’t care.

They had just reelected their president – so what could go wrong? Hostess would be forced to remain in business to provide them with jobs – wouldn’t they?

Because they are liberal Democrats these people know nothing about how wealth is created, and don’t really care. All they know is if you have wealth they will find a way to take it.

They are child-like in their understanding of wealth. They are like five year olds who don’t believe “mommy has no money” because they saw a ten dollar bill in her purse.

……these layoffs which come just in time for Thanksgiving….

“Those guys are still on strike.”

I remember reading one story of picketers outside their former workplace even though the place went out of business years before. Don’t now how true it all is, but with the Union mentality it’s possible...

Why wouldn’t they just fire them and hire replacement workers?

If they are like my friends they have been waiting to see if there would be a business positive administration. When it didnt happen time to lay off, downsize or close.

The brand’s too valuable, and the recipes are unique (eat a fruit pie from the grocery store’s generic brand and you’ll see).

KC started shutting down mills in the US. Same story - unions knocking the sh!t out of them. Atlas came behind them (company started from nothing) and bought up their shuttered plants. No unions, and they are turning a healthy profit right here in the US of A.

IBC is gone, but Hostess will rise again. They will sell to someone who’ll operate it without union bakers, they’ll do a deal with the truckers, and that will be how it ends.

Seattle won’t get their bakery back, probably, but maybe something in Skagit County will open, at least locally.

Bimbo bakeries may buy it - they have the cash. That would give them a HUGE entre to the US market. Nabisco might buy it too.

The union should buy the place. Rayburn said he would sell to the highest bidder.

The same reason Politicians hold the Bad economic data until after the elections. Case in Point Connecticut which is completely controlled by Democrats, last year quietly pass a Law that says economic data on deficits will not be released until after Elections. So after a 2.5 billion dollar tax increase last year we find out Yesterday that the State is 350 million in debt for the first quarter of this year and projected to be 1.2 billion in the hole next year. Never enough folks, never enough, Democrats Lie through their teeth, they never cut spending on anything, its just reductions in the rate of increase and the taxpayers get the increases in their taxes 100% of the time

Hostess should offer the union employees a discount on remaining stock. They can eat cake!

Roday the wife and I were shopping at the local grocery store. I decided to check on what stock the store had. Much to my suprise, Two 2, packages of twinkes were left on the shelf.

I would suggest that the formef Twinkes bakers find something else.

Obama may not let them close the doors; Mssrs Thompson and Mouch have yet to be consulted.”

How long before Directive 10-289 is implemented?

many knew that Romney would change many things and where holding out hope that Romney would actually kill Obama care.

They where burning through reserves trying to hold out till after the election.

Then there where those that held out to help Obama because they wanted him to win.

“Can anyone explain why so many companies are announcing layoffs after the election? Certainly their long term business plans showed trouble ahead, before the election, and layoffs would have happened regardless of the election results.”

Only a guess on my part, but they were hanging in there to see if Romney won. If he had, they might have tried to tough it out without layoffs in the hope that the business environment would soon show signs of improvement.

With Obama, there’s only one way the business environment is gonna go. So, might as well lay them off now and get it over with...
