6 Things You Don't Do in Front of White Folks

#4 - I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been surprised to learn that one of my white friends or associates was a Republican. Ugh. It’s a troubling realization. Not only because of the political ideologies; (I don’t understand why folk can’t see the Republicans are just about money.), but also because the Republican party has been known to associate and or attract the type of folk who cling to racist, sexist and classist thoughts and even behaviors. There’s the tea party folk, the Todd Akin type dudes and most recently people who can’t act like they have a modicum of sense or even humanity, at a convention where the party is supposed to be putting their best foot forward. Why didn’t they get the memo that it’s not ok to throw peanuts at a black woman?!

This is EXACTLY why the Republicans lost last week. Because Americans of darker skin tone (Black, African American, whatever the nomenclature is for today), see Republicans as the "party that's just about money".

And then the "fiscal conservatives" push the social conservatives to the fringe, saying that Republicans can't win with them.

As if most of America is going to get passonate about a few spolied trust fund babies crying about their next estimated tax payment, and complaining that $5 million isn't enough to inherit tax-free.

This is a stupid country, and there’s nothing that can be done about that.

It’s really sad that black people seem to forget Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream that people will be judged on the content of their character and not the color of their skin.

The argument that the Republican party is the party of “rich” people is illogical. If it were true, all Hollywood stars and pro athletes would be Republicans. But they aren’t, are they?!

And by the way, I am getting really, really sick of the word “folks.”

Like I said, it was a joke. I personally know some black people who play tennis. I was just trying to lighten up the thread.

Okay, I didn't get it... :)

BTW, I have a story related to your joke:

I have a friend Todd, who is black, and was the head coach of the Grassroots Tennis program in New Haven. I was a volunteer coach for three years. Each year I would get a free week pass to the Pilot Pen tourny in New Haven.

One year we were there, in full tennis gear, practicing and playing on the courts during the tourny. That day the NY Knicks players were going to take a tennis court, cover it with a special surface and give a b-ball demonstration. It rained though so the court was taken up and the practices were moved inside to Yale's Cullman Courts. Todd and I went in to the courts and played with the Jensen brothers and their sister. After we were done we decided to go back to the main grounds.

We crossed the street and came to the entrance of the tourny. The guard looked at me and said, "Do you need a ride back to the players lounge?"

I said, "No, I'll walk."

We walked along the back of the courts and when got to the middle another tourny worker looked at me and said, "Do you need a ride back to the player's lounge?"

Again, I said, "No".

We got to the end of the courts and a guy driving by in a cart slammed on the brakes and asked me, "Need a ride?"

Todd went nuts. He said, "Look at me! I'm wearing tennis clothes, I'm sweaty and carrying a tennis bag. How come you don't ask me if I need a ride?" The sheepishly drove away.

I looked at Todd and said, "Todd, they know there's only black player here at the tourny and they know you're not him." He laughed and we kept on going.

I had some really great memories associated with those times.

Remember a few years ago, when the La Raza types suggested “A Day Without Mexicans”? I propose “A Day Without Whites.”

“Generally speaking, black people think in incredibly racial terms.”

This is exactly the kind of thing that we on the right have to STOP saying about black voters. What we are saying is that black people ONLY vote, or support candidates, based on race. A good example is the idiotic argument John Sunnunu made about General Powell when Powell endorsed Obama, i.e. that Powell was only supporting Obama based on his race.

Just before the election, one of the libtards on TV used this to show that conservatives are “racist”, in that “they don’t think black people can think about the issues for themselves”. I’m sure that helped us a lot with the black vote.

The libtard pointed out that Powell supported George W. Bush, then said sarcastically, “So Powell supported Bush because he’s black?” This is the trap that we on the right keep falling into, the trap of making statements about blacks that seem simple-minded. Sunnunu did not help when he was challenged on lefty news shows either. When a liberal commentator asked Sunnunu if he only supports candidates who are white, Sunnunu replied, “Well, of course not” Then the lefty sprang the trap, saying “Oh, so according to you, white people can think for themselves, but black people can’t.” Sunnunu stuttered for a few seconds, then it was time for commercial. I knew right then, that Obama had just won a few more votes.

That’s pretty good. I guess he thought they were following him because he’s black. Tennis is a great sport, great workout. I grew up playing in a “league” in San Jose, CA.

Get your facts right before you post. Wekipida reported that Faubus, Maddox, and Wallace were democrats. Eisenhower was a Reublican.

I think it's foolish to think anything else. You're sitting here trying to tell us that 97% of black voters give the other 3% a bad reputation. That's just ludicrous. Blacks think about race in practically all things. Liberals will ALWAYS call us racists, no matter what. You would have us pretend the problem doesn't exist.

You have (obviously) got the parties mixed up ... I presume that you did so deliberately.

I also presume that a great many folks today would not know that George Wallace, Lester Maddox, and Orval Faubus were all democRats ... and Faubus, at least, was an outright communist.

Nor would those folks know that Ike was a Republican ...

After all, "everybody knows" that democRats are "for" the poor, downtrodden, and racial minorities ... and that Republicans are "for" rich white folks who exploit the "working class" and starve old folks.

On average, they do.

I've also heard Powell make what I consider racist statements about Republicans. So your example isn't one.

Powell, he's dead to me.

Ever hear of sarcasm?

I’m quite sure Hoodat knew who belonged to what party. He was making a point that apparently went completely over your head.

Its funny yet sad to watch the ignorant on this forum jostling with the wake up call that some of us have known for 30-40 years

And you know what....most of y’all will remain willfully ignorant

Its probably too late anyhow

I’m tired of explaining reality to stupids

Blacks voting Democrat has NOTHING to do with class, culture, or race. It has EVERYTHING to do with the Democrat party being Santa Clause giving out free money. Blacks have their votes easily purchased through free money. Democrats are the party of freebies and blacks respond well to that. Period. End of discussion.

All the black talk about “equality” or anything else ALWAYS ends with them getting something for free.
