People to Congress: Do your job or we'll sue
BizPac Review ^ | August 19, 2012 | Michael Dorstewitz

“It’s good to be king!” is an oft-quoted line from Mel Brooks’ “History of the World, Part I.” In America, every man is supposed to be king, every woman queen, and members of Congress are supposed to be our servants. We sometimes forget that last part. Three people in Orlando have not.

On Aug. 15, Charles Klein, Sally Baptiste and Theresa Kajkowski filed a lawsuit in Florida's Middle District Federal Court. Nothing unusual in that -- lawsuits are filed every day, especially in litigation-prone America. What’s unusual is that the plaintiffs name the entire membership of the U.S. House and Senate as defendants.

Their cause of action accuses Congress of breaching its fiduciary duty by failing to pass a budget in over three years. They’re asking that the revenue be returned to the Treasury until a budget is prepared and approved.

I seem to recall that the forces who fought in the War of Independence chanted “No King but King Jesus” . . .

Wow, it seems that you post only from a single source. Your own:

Surely you are not posting on Free Republic just as part of a blog-business model.

Because otherwise you might find something worth posting that
you personally don’t get paid for per hit. Wouldn’t you?

Surely you aren’t a common blog pimp.

You’re right, humble gunner, in that I post an awful lot of stuff from BizPac Review, however, I don’t receive a dime in compensation for doing so, nor do I have any ownership interest in it.

I have been thinking that we need to find a way to hold legislators personally liable for the havoc caused by their idiotic laws.

I hope this works.

I hope so too, although I don’t hold out much hope for them. I also hope a lawyer comes to their aid - they’re probably in way over their heads.

Wait a second...

It is NOT the job of Congress, much less the Senate to create the budget...

They are certainly charged with the job to PASS a budget, that is first submitted by the office of the President...

The person who is currently in that position has submitted budgets since his eggnogeration, the stopgap of that process, thank goodness has been the Congress...If one of those budgets had been passed, then we’d be in heap big trouble Kemosabe...Not that we are in good shape to begin with...

A lawsuit directed in the wrong direction by these “well-intentioned Floridians in my opinion...But it will not garner any legal traction, much less result in whatever its stated goal is...(shoot, there’s a dadgum dangling participle!!!), oh well...My speeling and gramatical errors keep piling up...And someone will probably come in and tell me I am wrong about something as well...Good thing we can all discuss it, but I am basing this on what I can best recall what I have learned over the last few days or so on this here website...

The one thing I do know for sure about is this...

We can be more effective by voting the entire slug of incumbents, and most important, REJECT every single candidate that is not running on an originalist intent to do the job they are running for in this next election...

That is a general comment and question you can and SHOULD make to every candidate and incumbent you come accross before this next election, and hold them responsible to that answer!!! Otherwise, they can certainly be replaced with the same amount of prejudice due to them for their obstinance...Treat them like the child they expect us to be!!!

And if you don’t show up in November or YOU do what you normally do in an election year is just go with the flow...

Well, then I hate to say this, you only have yourself to blame, and any whining to the fact that Obama may very well stay in office for another 4 years, and the Senate stays in democrat control, and we lose the house...Hehehe, don’t come whining to this website, because that kind of whining and crying will get nothing but a big pile of (crapola) chastising from me...

Not that anything I ever said (in the past) has ever been accepted by anyone in the first place, because what do I know, right???

So now in the immoratal words of George C. Scott (as Gen. Patton)...

“Now you know how I feel...”

“Now you know what to do!” ~~ Stevie-D (2012)

Amen, Steve. 2012 is not a year we can afford to “just sit this one out.” As for voting all the incumbents out, my Congressman is Allen West. Although he’ll be moving out of my district, I really pray he stays in, and I will in fact be campaigning for him. But as a general rule, I agree - throw the bums out.

Sue?

We should be hanging the effing tyrants. Right after we have tarred and feathered them in a public square.

West is gold in my book...But as all gold does, it does tend to need polishing from time to time...Tell him he needs to REJECT ALL advice and counsel, and go with his gut on issues...To me I have not heard that going wrong for him since I can recall him coming into the political mainstream...

Good idea but a slippery slope.
