You know all those people who made last Wednesday the most profitable single day in Chick-fil-A’s history?
I’m still trying to figure out how they managed to eat the thousands of chicken sandwiches they bought – while simultaneously patting themselves on the back with both hands in honor of their political stand.
By filling Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy’s coffers with even more moolah than usual, many somehow feel they were striking a blow for traditional marriage and free speech in America.
Buffalo chips. They didn’t do a thing in the world except help fatten a corporate chieftain’s bottom line and their own butts. Freud said – about something else – that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Likewise, sometimes a chicken sammitch is just a freakin’ chicken sammitch.
This was such an instance.
On the day declared willy-nilly “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” by former Arkansas Gov. Mike “Cluck” Huckabee, I watched hundreds of people, lemming like, filing in to area Chick-fil-As to show their support for either the company president’s stand on gay marriage – he opposes it – or for his right to announce his stand on gay marriage.
Somebody answer me this: When did marching up to the counter and ordering some barnyard pimp on a bun become a political statement on a par with crossing the Edmund Pettis Bridge in Selma, Ala., in 1965? Sorry, homeslice, but hopping in the minivan and going through the Chick-fil-A drive-thru doesn’t make you a Freedom Rider.
As far as I could tell, there was no Birmingham, Ala., Sheriff Bull Connor, no water cannons or vicious dogs awaiting the customers, only over-solicitous cashiers asking, “You want some of our delicious waffle fries with that?”(ontinued)

Mark Bittman, a New York Times food critic, admits he used an “inappropriate phrase” in an August 3 blog posting about Chick-Fil-A. In fact, it was down right Bitter, man, because he seemed to be rejoicing that a vice president of the fast food company had died of a heart attack back in July.
Bittman apologized to his readers for the giddiness he displayed about the death of Chick-Fil-A’s Vice President of Public Relations, Don Perry, who passed away on July 27. [...]
What he said on August 3 deserved to be excised, too. It was pretty vile. Here is what was removed from the post:
Speaking of pigs, the VP of PR for Chick-fil-A dropped dead of a heart attack the week after the chain’s latest homophobia/anti-gay marriage scandal. Here’s an obit, and here’s more about him. Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A had record-breaking profits after its President, Dan Cathy, drew a line in the sand over same-sex marriage.
While we were lining up for CFA, Saunders was probably lining up some young boy’s behind. The leftards who are pushing this crap refuse to understand that most of America just isn’t having it. They may lie about it to ‘get along’, but that doesn’t mean they don’t go around the corner and BARF after the camera is off.
I heard that Cathy donated the profits above what would’ve been normal for that day to... CONSERVATIVE CHARITIES. Even better to piss off the libs.
This is a great peek into the mind of a liberal. They don't recognize this as a political statement or activism because there was no destructive or malicious confrontation with authorities. They only recognize civil dissobedience as a means to address grievances.
