Color is the bugaboo that we just cannot escape even and especially when it should be the least important thing discussed. Which brings me to the discussions that the ignorant, race-mongers are having pursuant to Gabby Douglas.
Miss Douglas has won two gold medals at the London Olympic Games. But in her case, winning two gold medals isnt enough. The obligatory focus on the color of her skin by the politically correct, is sickening, but the ridicule she is receiving from blacks punctuates the statement made by Rev. James Manning that black people are honorless, incorrigible idiots.
It’s a lot like how a few years back, before (during, and after) the Super Bowl between Pittsburgh and Chicago we were treated to a non-stop litany on how these were the first two black coaches to make it to the big game, and therefore one would be the first to win it.
Funny thing — if they hadn’t gone out of their way to mention it, I (and many others) would never have noticed the fact. Isn’t that fact that it isn’t “remarkable” the goal of treating everyone equally? It never would have occurred to me to question whether or not Gabby Douglas was the first black all-around gold medalist, because I didn’t see her as a “black” gymnast, but only as an “American” gymnast who delivered a great performance.
Yup.....but idiots will always be idiots and the internet gives them a place to promote their biases.
She is a wholesome all-American girl next door. Wish there were more like her back when I was that age.
But I guess some people seems to only see “black gurl” first and always.
I read an earlier article on this hair thing and could not believe it. They were insulting this lovely girl all over Twitter. Her mother was extremely upset and accused them of trying to destroy her confidence in herself. She went on to lose her last event.
I don’t know if these insults had anything to do with her poor performance, but I know she was dumbstruck by the nastiness she was receiving.
It was a darn shame.
I know, some blacks are on a rampage because she straightens her hair and that means she’s trying to be white, according to them. It couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that a gymnast needs to keep their hair out of their face.
I get really offended when people refer to me as a hyphenated American. I’m white, but my ethnic background has nothing to do with what I am. I’m an AMERICAN dammit.
As Teddy Roosevelt said - there should be no hyphenated Americans, just AMERICAN Americans - and this politically corrrect garbage has gone too far in ALL areas.
It’s that “crabs in a barrel” thing.
Only liberals look at Gabby’s race. I dont, I look at Gabby and see a great kid with amazing talent. She is indeed a GREAT AMERICAN. She has a strong faith in God, who she quotes daily on her twitter page, leftists hate hearing about God so thats probably why they trash her
I would like to loose the Zulus on these idiots. They would not put up with their idiocy for a minute.
That’s why I’ve always thought that “African-American” designation is ridiculous. Not to mention that the politically correct designation changes about every other decade.
Then what must they think of Moochelle?
All I know is that Algore should be checking the carbon footprint required to straighten that nappy hair.
Just like attacking Michelle Bachmann for criticizing our panfereing politicians for their Islamic connections.
The enemy is political correctness and it must be rooted out branch and stem.
If their coaches are letting the athletes see Twitter commentary, the coaches are fools.
What's the big deal about an Olympic gymnast's being black, anyway? I remember when Dominique Dawes was competing - another bright, pretty girl and great athlete.
Maybe the jackasses would’ve preferred her to shave her head.
Sheesh.
[they’re just jealous that she actually worked hard and achieved something all on her own..yeah..’she built that’]
If I get a curly perm, am I trying to ‘be black’?
Uh..no..it would mean I felt like having a different hair style than I was born with.
BFD.
If we all regarded each other as truly equal, the Left would have no one to pander to or demonize. That would spoil their whole gig.
Blacks have been straightening their hair for years, the ones with red hair and blondes are much more noticeable than the ones with straightening.
It’s pretty pathetic when they try to diss this girl for her hair.
the left now hate her due to her thanking God and because she is not the stereotype the left likes
that is why the left hate her, She thanked God and that sent them in their hateful bigotry again.
It’s time for the black community to wake the hell up and understand that the Dems only want blacks to stay in their plantation so to speak and we all know the party of the KKK and slavery knows about that.
What do the liberal democrat African-Americans, want Miss Douglas to look like? Buckwheat?
neevr use the term African AMerican as whites can be that too.
It just shows how pathetic and stupid the left are when it comes to that term.
She had not seen it. A reporter told her about it, so she googled herself afterward and was just flabbergasted at what she found. I think it is beyond disgusting. This little girl worked so hard and was the best of the best, and then she was told that was not enough.
I have a friend who was born and raised in Africa and now is an American through marriage. She speaks with an accent and has red hair and very white skin. She is an African-American.
“A reporter told her about it”
Said reporter needs his/her teeth knocked out.
What purpose did telling her that even serve??
It was Indianapolis and Chicago. What was really great was what Tony Dungy, the Colts coach, said after winning the game:
“I’m proud to be the first African-American coach to win this,” Dungy said during the trophy ceremony. “But again, more than anything, Lovie Smith and I are not only African-American but also Christian coaches, showing you can do it the Lord’s way. We’re more proud of that.”
Got a link? I’ll go compliment the heck out of her.
Man, this makes me angry!!
And according to some liberal slug, "very into Jesus".
Pretty awesome that they all stand together and support each other. Makes us proud!
Naturally Moochelle gets a pass, being an affirmative action leftist who never accomplished a thing on her own. As soon as Gaby mentioned “God”, the left saw her as a Christian which means she must be on the right(as if the poor girl probably even gives much thought to politics), making her a target for the left.
That would be a more accurate use of “African American” though I wish we would just all be “American”. But that wouldn’t be to the benefit of the race industry which divides in order to conquer.
Just the purpose they intended-some headlines via racial sh*t-stirring.
She’s an awesome young lady, and, apparently the best darn little gymnast in the world.
Me, I’d be pretty proud and happy for her.
Some people are never happy.
I bet these people (the complainers) are the same people who go around their neighborhood messing up nice cars and painting on walls because other people are “getting above their station.”
[ I know, some blacks are on a rampage because she straightens her hair and that means shes trying to be white, according to them. It couldnt have anything to do with the fact that a gymnast needs to keep their hair out of their face. ]
I know some white men and women who perm their hair and wear it in cornrows. I say it is all good! There isn’t a “Black Hairstyle” or a “White Hairstyle” there is just Hairstyles!
The only Hairsyle I cannot strand is the “Dog turn dreadlocks”, which I only see on white hippie folks and that is because they don’t wash their hair and are hippies.
I know. The average white person’s hair doesn’t “naturally” dreadlock so it’s especially nasty, considering what they have to resort to to achieve “dreadlocks”-all the hair product, no washing, etc.
It allowed a person who has accomplished nothing worth mentioning to upset a person who has accomplished something earning wide acclaim. That made the reporter feel better!
That said, the coach should have kept her away from Google, too.
Crabs in a bucket... that’s what the dependency class/victim class are, nothing but crabs in a bucket. They’d rather pull one about to escape the bucket back down, than let it be free and prove that escape is possible.
Yeah...because we don’t already have enough of that.
Good grief.
I’ve been watching the Olympics sporadically and the *only* thing I’m looking for is the little US flag patch most of our athletes have on their person, somewhere.
I didn’t see one on Gabby’s silver leotard but had already come to know her as ‘our girl’.
I rooted for the colors of that flag more so than the people who wore it.
[I must be some kind of weirdo]
:-P

[oh, wait...they'll hate on her too cuz she's right-wing]
No link to the original story. The story I read earlier has bern completely changed now to have Gabby’s black mother blaming the white host family for not knowing how to style ‘black hair’.
Dumb asses.
Apparently. Guess they think she is “acting white” by actually achieving. And the non-black libs don’t like her faith in God.
I had crabs once, in 1968. They weren’t that big though!
What.. GABBY’S BLACK?
Look who Gabby's biggest supporters are:
Support: Gabby's mother (centre) claimed that her host mother (left) knows 'nothing about her hair'. They witnessed the 16-year-old's gold medal win alongside 2008 Olympic gymnastics medalist Shawn Johnson
Why include this quote? I understand the person saying it is black and was probably resorting to hyperbole to make a point or else said it in the heat of the moment, but that shouldn't shield the fact that it is an ugly statement no matter who says it. Throw "some" in front of it and toss in every other color and that's fine, but as a blanket statement about an entire group of people it is unfair and the use of it plays into the stereotype of conservatives as being anti-black.
I mean, come on. Are black people really without honor? Are they really not only idiots but beyond all hope of ever being anything but idiots? Is this really what you are "punctuating" here by using that quote?
You know, I was actually going to frame a defensive response to this post but managed to catch myself just in time.
If I did, I would be falling into the same trap I always accuse other people of.
When confronted with politically correct garbage attacks, treat them with the contempt they truly merit - IGNORE THEM.
