Government-controlled gun access in your home might not be as far fetched as you think... California gun-control zealots in the state legislature have already...

So, what's next...?

“... while concealed-carry permits have become considerably harder to come by.”

Not true in Sacramento county at least. The current sheriff changed the default from “don’t issue” to “do issue”. Not 100% because he says they still deny people who have frequent run ins with the Sheriffs Department even though they may not be banned under the law, but it’s much easier than it was under the last sheriff.

You are correct, CA banned magazines (not “clips”) over 10 rounds, unless they were purchased prior to the ban (about 20 years ago). About that same time they passed an “Assault Weapon Ban” that listed specific models (including AKs and ARs), and allowed the DA to add copycat models, if they were capable of using “detachable magazines”. It went to court, and it was pointed out that all magazines are detachable. The state said it meant detachable without the use of a tool. So manufacturers started adding a recessed magazine release, that could be pushed with a bullet, but not a finger, aka. a “bullet button”. So now you can buy a new AR again, as long as it has one.

These “fringies” (people at the edge of being cognizant) are always starting bills like this ... makes great headlines and those no where. So lets start some of our own bills ... EVERY HOME MUST HAVE AT LEAST 2 LOADED GUNS AT ALL TIMES ... there’s a starter.
