Where Do Conservatives Go Now?
http://www.conservativehq.com ^ | 4-18-12 | Richard A. Viguerie

Today, Parts 1, 2 & 3.

Now that moderate former Massachusetts Governor Mitt is the presumptive Republican nominee for President, many conservatives are asking “What should I do now that it looks like Republicans will not nominate a conservative candidate for President?”

First, don’t be Mitt Romney’s cheap date.

The grassroots movement conservative voters who powered the Santorum campaign can not be taken for granted. During the 2006 congressional elections some 4 million conservative voters stayed home, producing one of the greatest defeats for the Republican Party in the modern era.

Some conservatives were quick to endorse Mitt Romney now that the nomination looks settled. They got it exactly backwards – conservatives should not be rushing to embrace Romney; Romney should be rushing to embrace conservatives.

No one wants to stay home during this important election cycle, however, Mitt Romney has given little evidence he wants, and is willing to work for, conservative support.

If Mitt Romney wants the support of grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers, the next six moves are up to him.

So far there’s no new sign that a Romney administration will result in the kind of fiscally sound, constitutionally conservative government that conservatives saw coming from the other candidates in the race.

Second, redouble conservative efforts to takeover the Republican Party.

Time after time during the Republican primary election cycle grassroots conservatives and Tea Partiers saw establishment Republican Party officials put their thumb on the scale to tip the balance in Mitt Romney’s favor.

To prevent this from happening again, and to build a Republican Party leadership that truly represents its conservative base, Tea Partiers and grassroots conservative activists must redouble their efforts to takeover the Republican Party.

This means running for positions in the Republican Party organization – starting with precinct committeeman or woman – and getting involved in the local Republican Party organization.

I am sick to death of this garbage. Not voting for Romney does NOT equal voting for Obama.

In 2008 Obama was funded by Russia.
Wikileaks got emails that there was massive vote fraud, McCain knew it and did nothing.
Spain is going to "count" our votes. Can you say RIGGED?

Romney cannot and will not win. Just as McCain didn't.

Sorry, if you’re a conservative, that is EXACTLY what not voting for Romney equals.

You both are insane to even consider voting for Romney. Do you really want the GOPe to win???? If you vote for Romney, you are basically telling the GOPe that you love any candidate that they throw in front of us. What about 2016 they decide to put Lindsey Graham or Bloomberg as our nominee? When does it stop? When do you stop selling yourself to the lowest bidder? When do you start having principles?????

It does not. And you are incredibly naive if you believe our votes actually count. You didn’t read anything that I said, did you.

The writer of this article is right in so many ways.

However, he does not address the real problem standing in the
way of sending more conservatives to DC.

These many states GOP “Open” primaries MUST BE CLOSED!

Does anybody believe that McCain could have won the AZ GOP primary if it wasn’t open?

Lugar has a chance to win in Indiana because the Indiana GOP has an “Open” primary.

Until the rules are changed in states who have open primaries, not much else will change.

CLOSE STATE GOP PRIMARIES TO ONLY GOP VOTERS.

It’s pretty simple really. If you’re a conservative and don’t vote for Romney then you have voted for Obama. If you write in your conservative “dream” candidate, you have voted for Obama. If you vote for Ron Paul, you have voted for Obama. Either Romney or Obama WILL be President. If you don’t vote for one, you have voted for the other. Romney is not my ideal candidate but I will vote for him.

So...if the opposition offers a bowl of warm vomit, and the GOP offers a crock of feces, I must choose to eat the feces. If I decline both, I’m choosing warm vomit.

I find your decision making quite astounding.

Enjoy that feces!

Right. I agree. Wee need to focus on the lower races for congress and for local elections. because the presidency is lost for conservatives in 2012. But we can still take back the senate and the house.

The biggest mistake the Santorum campaign made was to allow the MSM create the issues. This was the failure to connect the social issue (population control) which is in Obamacare. Hence to Romneycare and his opponents record as governor of Massachusetts .and its failures and costs

. Population control is an integral part of that 2400 page legislation known as the “Affordable Healthcare Act” which nobody read before because everybody is to “read it after it gets passed to find out what is in it”. So if the Senate and the House will not read it. Why should SCOTUS when they rule on it ?

While SCOTUS is set to rule on Obamacare in June I for one am not that certain we are going like what the court comes up with. Obamacare has got to be thrown out. The only way I for one will feel Romnney can fire up support is if and when he repudiates Romneycare as a mistake. Conservatives do not trust him on his EPA positions, and on Obamacare.

OBAMACARE MUST GO Voting in a May 2012 GOP Primary ??
If Santorum is on your primary ballotVote for the man and his delegates who fought it Not for the man who brought it
OBMACARE is a 1.76 Trillion $ Hydra
A 9 headed Serpent whose heads must be decapitated all at once with a Firebrand otherwise they grow back and devour everything in sight
by L.J .Keslin / http://www.theusmat.com
Note this article will print out on 1 page at 60% setting

Sen Rick Santorum, had the courage to take on a what they call a third rail issue...Eugenics...one of the heads on that 9 headed snake called obamacare.. and Santorum had his character asassinated for it... Rick was pummeled from both sides Called , a women hater ,, a religious nut, and ..a one trick pony. Santorum detractors will talk about... certainly not ,what’s really in the 1.76 trillion dolllar wonder called Obamacare ,,...!; Population control,.Death panels., Private presidential armys..requiring US to pay for birth control pills and abortions and all that goes in those 2400 pages of rules, laws, and regulations and with it. cost, 1.76 trillion and rising .

Mr Romney it aint over and the fat lady has not yet opened her mouth but we are telling you in no uncertain terms OBAMACARE MUST GO

Nope. I will vote for a presidential candidate. It will not add a single vote to either Romney's or Obama's vote count.

But I won't have abandoned my conservativism like a cheap (redeacted).

“Sorry, if you’re a conservative, that is EXACTLY what not voting for Romney equals.”

Conservative and Romney don’t belong in the same sentence.

What I’m sick to death of is nosy, bossy people telling me who I am obligated to vote for. I’ll make that choice, thank you. Last I knew this is a free country(though maybe not for long).
I’d like to know (and will likely never find out) if any of the control freaks, even on this site, who try to guilt us into voting a certain way...voted for Obama in ‘08.
Anyone who did is to blame for the mess we are in right now.
And I don’t intend to clean up anyone else’s messes.

Then there is the GOP-E who gave us McCain. A principled, core Constitutional Conservative candidate could probably have beaten Obama.
Instead, I spent nine months of my life campaigning tirelessly for a Rino who said that Hussein wasn’t all that bad and we shouldn’t fear his presidency.

So that’s another group that I won’t clean up after. The Republican Party.

I’m not telling you who to vote for. I’m telling you what the consequence of your vote is.

Oh, and Comrade Obama thanks you too.

That’s my plan too, johnny. I’m voting for POTUS as well but it won’t be for Romney or Obama.
Afterwards, I’m going to tell my grandchildren why I am making this choice in the hopes that they will learn a lesson on what loyalty to one’s belief system means...and when they grow up, how it feels to stand before God, country and family and vote their informed consciences.
And I will be able to sleep well that night.

Sick and tired of the obedient, fear driven Freepers who are bailing, compromising their values and expecting me to do same. Do what you want but don’t push your agenda on me!
