WITNESS: ZIMMERMAN SHOT TRAYVON MARTIN IN SELF-DEFENSE
THE FREEDOM POST ^ | March 25, 2012 | Matthew Burke

Posted on 03/25/2012 3:33:02 PM PDT by SaveOurRepublicFromTyranny

This news goes largely unreported, as race-hustling vultures, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, swoop onto the scene to exploit the tragic shooting for personal publicity and political gain, appointing themselves as judge and jury in the Trayvon Martin shooting case. President Obama is promoting a race war by inferring that Martin was practically his own son: "If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon." He might as well as said, "When you kill Trayvon, you've killed my own son. If you support me, retaliate!"

The 911 calls were over the course of a year from what I read, although who knows with the way this case is being handled and manipulated. If Zimmerman was tailing Martin in the vehicle, he had to exit at some point to confront him (degree or method, showing sidearm or not, no one knows). Zimmerman claimed he was returning to his vehicle when attacked and it is his word versus a dead kid’s, so who knows. Irregardless, he had no proof this kid committed a crime and followed and approached him anyway, all of this could have been avoided by simply doing what both the 911 operator and Neighborhood Watch suggest which is report only. He went looking for trouble.

Matin did back off, as we can hear in the 911 call he actually runs away, Zimmerman follows him (Zimmerman admits this in the 911 call as well). Then when Martin tries to defend himself from the stalker he gets shot.

Maybe I’m missing something, so I need an explanation.

Maybe you could start by reading through some of the threads posted on FreeRepublic over the past couple of days. If you look at what people have already documented, I'm pretty sure you'll find that you're mistaken on many of your contentions.

I had read in more then one place that it was in a year, who knows the way this is being handled. Bottom line is the kid was doing nothing wrong, Zimmerman witnessed no crime and was basing all of this on the fact that he was a young black male (in a largely minority community to bgin with. It was dumb and judgmental to call 911 to begin with, it was idiocy to then follow and confront this kid. Neighborhood Watch rejects hat line of vigilant behavior and the 911 operator told him they didn’t need him to follow. He was out of line.

“43. Jan. 29, 2012 – 5:38 p.m.
Type: TEL
Subject: Disturbance
Report: Children “running and playing in the street””

Thankfully we have fine upstanding citizens like Zimmerman keeping an eye of this sort of thing.

Zimmerman didn’t confront Martin.

The transcript of the phone call shows:

Zimmerman is giving a description of Martin to dispatch. Martin sees Zimmerman and runs. Zimmerman exits the truck to pursue. He tells dispatch he’s lost Martin (which I’ve heard is confirmed by Martin who tells his girlfriend he’s lost Zimmerman).

How does Zimmerman confront Martin when he doesn’t know where Martin is?

Actually I have, which is why I chose to comment. Zimmerman was in the wrong in calling 911 (he witnessed no crime), and it was pure idiocy tailing the kid and then confronting him.

Did Zimmerman leave the vehicle and pursue the kid, against the 911 operator and Neighborhood Watch’s recommendation? He had no business doing that. Besides that, what crime did the kid commit? Zimmerman profiled him, the kid ran (which he has every right to do), and Zimmerman pursued him. He is not the police.

No HONEST jury, in an HONEST trial, will convict Zimmerman. Doesn’t mean he’ll get one, though.

The problem for the police is that under FL's Stand Your Ground law, they would have the burden of proof of showing Zimmerman's actions were NOT self defense.

The media is going out of their way to fan the flames by showing photos of Martin from when he seems to be about 13, rather than more recent photos like this one:

I don't think much has been documented, that's why I think you have people divided 50/50 on this.

The black community has demanded there be an investigation on this shooting. It seems without those demands there probably would not have been a further investigation. I think a further investigation is good thing BUT if this shooting is deemed justified I don't think the black community will take a "not guilty" verdict well.

That is a problem

All that being said. What are your predictions on this case?

Dispatches suggestion that Zimmmerman not pursue is not legally binding. As a free citizen he is entitled to walk or run wherever the hell he feels like (if I’m walking down the sidewalk behind you can you turn around and assault me because you felt threatened?). Moreover, as part of the Neighborhood Watch it is certainly within his duties to watch the neighborhood.

Its not a question of whether the 911 call is legally binding. Neighborhood Watch tells its volunteers to report only, not approach or pursue (which is also not legally binding). The question is if you’re a 17 year old kid minding your own business walking down the street and a grown man is making (baseless) accusations and then chases after you, do you feel on edge and threatened? Again, Zimmerman initiated the entire episode by trying to act in some hero capacity. The man made all of these rash judgments based on the fact that the kid was black walking down the street, there was no crime witnessed.

Granted, the media’s handling of this is horrible. I will say this though. If I saw that kid walking down the street, it wouldn’t scare me as much as a grown man chasing after me on the same street. He is a kid who committed no crime.

Then why don't you know that he didn't call 911 that night but rather called the police department number? As was the case with most of the 40 or so calls he made over multiple years. On one of the calls (about an open garage door) he says that the police told them in the neighborhood watch program training to call in if they saw anything suspicious.

With him being a neighborhood watch volunteer for a few years, I'm sure he was in the habit of seeing what people he saw around in that gated community, so he would know who might be out of place. In light of some recent crimes in the neighborhood, I guess this night he considered a six foot tall, young black male that he had never seen before walking through the neighborhood suspicious enough to warrant calling it in.

If Zimmmerman gets off, there will be riots. Just like in the trial of Rodney King.

“As a free citizen he is entitled to walk or run wherever the hell he feels like”

and so is Martin

“(if I’m walking down the sidewalk behind you can you turn around and assault me because you felt threatened?)”

if you follow me in a car, then get out and continue following me on foot then i think feeling threatened is entirely natural.
