KPUA cancels Rush Limbaugh radio show in Hilo
67AM KPUA News ^ | Monday, March 5th, 2012 | Chris Leonard

Posted on 03/06/2012 1:12:54 PM PST by LeoWindhorse

Hilo, Hawaii March 5, 2012: New West Broadcasting announced today that it is discontinuing the Rush Limbaugh program on KPUA AM 670 in Hilo, Hawaii effective immediately.

Chris Leonard, President and General Manager of New West released the following statement this morning:

“We have always encouraged spirited discussion about national and local issues on KPUA and from time to time those discussions may be deemed by some to be objectionable. We are strong believers in the first amendment and have recognized Mr. Limbaugh's right to express opinions that often times differ from our own, but it has never been our goal to allow our station to be used for personal attacks and intolerance. The most recent incident has crossed a line of decency and a standard that we expect of programming on KPUA whether it is locally produced or a syndicated program like the Rush Limbaugh show. [snip] As a result, we are discontinuing the Rush Limbaugh program on KPUA effective immediately.”

Not surprised. We lived in HI for a few years. Totally socialistic place. We couldn’t tolerate it any longer.

They probably use a pair of 45 Power amplifier tubes with an 866 jr. mercury vapor rectifier left over from the 30’s to put themselves on the air. Ohhhh I am dating myself :-)

Here on Maui I get him on 1110 AM from 8 to 11 am. I think that is a Honolulu station. I checked this morning and he was on as always. I don’t listen there much anyhow as I get him streamed from Boston on my computer from 6 to 9 am.

Probably a bad move financially.

Rush can be listened to online and anyone with modern technology, whether from their phone or car system can listen to him. They won’t be listening to KPUA.

I listen to RUSH on-line at Honolulu station KHVH whenever I miss the live show.

You can get it @ iHeartRadio.com or 830AM on the local Honolulu dial.

“I stream Rush down here in Brisbane, Australia off an east coast station.”

Even better, I use DAR.FM (www.dar.fm) to record Rush while I am asleep, and play it back when I wake up at 6 AM. (Philippine time)
I can auto record most any radio station in the world.

Same here. I use Radio-Locator.com - can pick up stations all over the globe. It’s a -15h from NYC.

That lineup is best described as “appealing to those wishing for a reason to slit their wrists”.

As for the Pittsfield, MA station dropping Rush...well, to best describe the current state of that City, just look at the first five letters. Slum in the making.

“I use Radio-Locator.com - can pick up stations all over the globe.”

For just listening I use www.tunein.com
It also list stations all over the world.
They are grouped by format and location.
The best feature is that you can make a preset list
of numerous programs or stations.
For example, I have Savage, Kook to Kook, and various music stations in my preset list.
I do not even have to know the station call or location.
TuneIn will select and connect me to a station that carries
the program. If it does not work, it will try another station.
“My Presets” stays on my Firefox tab bar.

I canceled Hawaii as a vacation spot for me and my family. Do I get a headline news spot from KPUA? Well?!!?? I thought not.

KPUA can stick its stinky station up its barnacle-encrusted pootey.

That one must have been (taken over by the obamacoms). It can NEVER be a good business decision to cancel Rush Limbaugh. You just go from a lock on the time slot, to having someone else pick it up and beat the sh!t out of you in the time slot. Plus, I’m sure the revenues from Rush subsidize many of the messages that they DO agree with, so they probably won’t break even without him as currently structured. Unless that’s the only radio station on the big island (kidding).

One note:

My computer stays on 24/7, so when I click on “My Presets”
I need to refresh the tab so that it will be current up to the moment.

Nothing is going to happen to those archives unless Mitt orders it. He’s the grand vizier or poobah or dragon or something I think. I know he’s just a Bish, he’s not claiming to be The Prophet, but he might. People don’t know it, but a Romney presidency could be just as bizarro as that mess up in there right now. I think he wants to bring back plygamy.

Okay, well I bookmarked it and it’s on a tab now. My tabs always reload when I start my laptop. It runs all day and I just shut it down at night. Thanks for all the help. R/janey
