This email was sent yesterday by me to Rush Limbaugh.
Rush,
The statement you released today has left some people disheartened, but not me.
It did however, leave me concerned: concerned for you, and concerned at how aggressively this Plague of Marxists moved against you, and so soon after the death of Andrew Breitbart.
I am stunned, but ultimately not surprised, at their audacity.
I can only imagine the details of what influenced your decision to take this course of action, but I implicitly trust your judgment that the statement was needed so that your program could continue the fight.
I have often said that The Marxists would rue the day that they succeed in silencing you, because the rest of us would not be laughing any longer.
Well, I stopped laughing today.
Their attack was effective, and it will continue relentlessly.
So, the time for laughing is over.
I think you know this as well.
As such, I look forward to Monday's program.
I look forward to a newly purposed Rush Limbaugh who's not playing games any longer.
And though the future is uncertain, and though I am just a faceless listener with no real power but the power of my support:
I stand with you in this fight, Rush Limbaugh.
People need to understand, sometimes you need to feint to the right or left before moving forward.
We would lose a huge asset, if Rush was forced off the air, because he chose to stubbornly stay his ground.
He’d be ok in his mansion and his 100 million dollar+ fortune. It would have bee us that would have lost out.
It would not surprise me one bit if Rush began his show with a montage of liberal radio and tv hosts that have said as much and worse than he said without having apologized to those woman they bad mouthed.
What better way to show their double standards.
I wonder how much this apology will drop his ‘being right x% of the time’ quotient?
First the hearing, then the backbone.
Who says sponsors don’t have power over the media — conservative or mainstream.
You blew it, Rush. Sometimes you need to keep your mouth shut; this issue -- mark my words -- is going to hurt conservatives all the way to November and MAY EVEN be the tipping point that puts Bambi back into the WH for four more years.
He caved, like all the rest. Accept it.
Sometimes I think radio is dead. You can hear radio programs on the net any time you want.
If the “Workers Court” forces Rush off the airwaves, he would make a killing podcasting his show here or maybe go on SHortwave.
The fairness doctrine is coming when Obama gets his 2nd term. And with the death of the 1st,expect the demise of all the other amendments.
Boy this is gonna save the day!!
Absolutely. It’s why they tried taking over the net, so they can control content on the net.
The Constitution is being targeted. I think it’s impossible to underestimate how much the left wants to take everything away.
When the Russians were close to storming Berlin, the people had a common greeting for each other in the street: Survive.
I wish he didn’t apologize. It was a perfect opportunity to keep the narrative about them and not about us.
These advertisers that pulled their adds. Let them advertise and cater to the penniless liberals who can’t afford $7 a month for birth control pills.
I thought of that as well. The left routinely denigrates conservative women. Why don’t they apologize?
But on another note, I think the debate needs to get back to those government mandates. The damage they’ve done, etc. Why are many college students required to buy insurance? They should have the right to make that decision for themselves. That’s a huge expense on a young healthy student that far exceeds the $3k that Fluke was talking about.
Also, in Fluke’s testimony before the House, she did not specifically say that she would spend $3,000 on contraception. She may or may not be what Rush has portrayed her to be.
An idea: maybe the Catholic Church should become a sponsor of the Limbaugh Show. Not kidding. No sarcasm. Stupid idea?
For all y’all that think this was a mistake to apologize, I disagree. Just wait. Rush plays chess with these things. I’m thinking he’s two or three moves ahead.
I understand your passion, however, we are at the tipping point. Words will have to be tempered since as we are all getting a clear picture here, MSM and the left are on the march, and we are not gaining ground. I am conflicted by his walk back but understand it. Glenn Beck said this years ago and so did Rush in different phrasing, their is no reasoning with the left or the Media. They will never stand up to what is right thinking. Don’t be duped that they will. So that leads us to believe that any conservative will be attacked for any reason. Look at how rabid they have been with Palin, to the point of making her unelectable. Rush is not immuned to this venome either folks. Evil exists and we are watching its forces attack.
Rush is doing this to turn the debate back to.....ROMNEY? Yeah, right.
Rush is an entertainer. No more no less.
He’s more interested in selling his tea on the air. Without the air waves, his tea would fail.
Rush cares only about himself. He has a way out. He doesn’t care about us, only our money.
I was thinking exactly the same thing last night. Rush is going to go on the war path now. They will long for the day of the lovable little fur ball, making “slut” jokes. Look for a more serious (while still entertaining) El Rushbo.
I was stunned. I said "Dad...But you lied". And my dad responded "He knows where we live".
My father taught me wisdom.
Of course it’s about the money. I’m not into the OWS crap but I don’t believe any millionaire gives a damn about anything but making more money. He wouldn’t keep investing for a net zero return.
Rush is about the money, too. Why shouldn’t he be. But what pisses me off about him and Hannity et al, is they pretend to be for the people. Let one little threat to their money come up and watch them scurry over to the left. They care about the 99% and the 10% unemployed. But if it comes to sacrificing, they’re only for themselves.
They’ve taken out two of their marks in just three days, one that they have been trying to get for twenty years. They are having a really successful week.
Not really. In this case your dad did you no favor.
Yeah, so does Carbonite and Sleep Number Beds. Just how many people who are looking for free contraceptives are going to be buying a Sleep Number Bed.
My Carbonite subscription is up in 29 days and I'll be replacing them with someone who has a little more respect for the first amendment. Someone who caves that fast to a little pressure can't be trusted with my data or that of my company.
As for the Sleep Number I have been saving for.....I'll start looking at other options this afternoon.
And if he doesn't... we'll know that "it's time," even though he promised to tell us when it was time.
Then Alinsky wins, right?
Right.
The Dems/Lefties/MSM got an apology. That is worse than blood in the water for a shark.
They are behind closed doors even now planning how to capitalize on this.
Macaca, Strom would have made a good president, nappy headed ho, and numerous other examples have forced others out.
“It would not surprise me one bit if Rush began his show with a montage of liberal radio and tv hosts that have said as much and worse than he said without having apologized to those woman they bad mouthed.”
That would be a smart move, ‘cause you just know more people than usual will be tuning in. That’s the audience who needs to hear the truth, since they hear it nowhere else.
Exactly.
I believe he apologized because she was, arguably, not a public figure.
The public figures responsible for this attack, however, are still fair game.
I expect Monday’s show to be a barn burner.
What Limbaugh SHOULD be apologizing for is NOT covering Sherif Joe’s news conference.
But she made herself a public figure by going before Congress. She is now a public figure.
“Hes more interested in selling his tea on the air.”
Does Rush own a tea company?
Please post links.
Indeed. He spent his entire show on Friday digging himself deeper into this hole.
Here’s a fresh example WHY Rush Limbo and a slew of other so called “Conservative” talking heads are afraid of covering or touching the Article II. Section 1. Clause 5, the NBC issue, because they got “marching” order to keep it under the rug, or else.... = Andrew Breitbart???
Kudos to “America’s” Sheriff Joe Arpaio for bringing the Bari-Birthdate-Gate to the forefront!!!
Couldn’t agree more! Watching this is almost surreal, but we all knew that this was going to get nasty, and trust my word, this is just the beginning. We all knew it was coming and I tried to wake people up as did everyone here on FR. I am sick to my stomach over all of this, but cant dwell for too long. We must press on with what we do. and PRAY!
This seems to be the case, which is amazing because it was Rush leading the way on how this was a trap to change the discussion from the dangers of the new powers ceded to government over our healthcare to 'women's rights' being 'taken away'. It is a cheap ploy from the Democrates, and he ended up falling prey this week. I do not think this is over, and he will probably have a major impact for our side on this issue before this ends, but in this small sliver of time, Rush took a hit in his own game going after the left this week. He'll probably have the last laugh.
This apology likely is meant to stop the effect on his sponsors, but it also became a political hot potato for our side in the last 2 days of last week. When both Boehnner and Santorum came out calling it inappropriate, the process was underway. As much as Rush's overall coverage of this was dead-on, the few soundbites being tossed in the media were going to cause damage...either our side's leaders would side with Rush which would have put them on record calling a college student a 'slut', or they would go against Rush and put the issue to rest for their electoral needs. I wouldn't want any of our candidates or elected leaders to needing to spend the next six months defending their position on this...it simply isn't important. I am comfortable with his statement yesterday because it was the weekend, and he had no other ability until Monday to address this, and it needed to be handled. Before Monday, he likely would have taken more hits from sponsors and the political dialogue of the whole weekend would have been about this.
Rush may apologize, but I won’t. Fluke is a rug munchin slut. There, I said it.
The sharks have been circling for a long time and they are now in a frenzy! Blood in the water is never a good thing. If you have ever been out fishing in open water and have seen this I will tell from experience it is a scary scene. That about sums up my gut feeling at the moment.
I predict that by the middle of this coming week it will be revealed that she is a lesbo.
I’m with you on this. While I am disappointed, I am holding out hope that Rush is springing a trap for the liberals. Monday will be very interesting indeed.
It’s one of those days, like the day after Obama was elected, or the day after the midterms of 2010, or after Brown won the Kennedy seat, when the listenership in the first segment will be huge!
“Rush cares only about himself. He has a way out. He doesnt care about us, only our money.”
Well said. Lately I have come to realize that. He is using more and more of the content portion of his show to flack for oil changes, cherry candy, flowers, on and on. And worst of all that tea which he has to give away.
So, when advertisers started bailing on him, he caved. They hit him where it hurts, his money. Breitbart would never have ginned up this silly contoversy as Rush has.
Well that should reduce the contraception budget a tad....
Rush should have lots of listeners on Monday and he has tons of possibilities for that show. It should be interesting.
Remember years ago when he did a show claiming that he had converted to liberalism? He was fantastic. Imagine something along those lines. He could then agree with those on the left that had denigrated conservative women. He could list them. He could appeal to the advertisers of the shows those people appeared on....
Whatever he come up with, he’ll pull it off.
Big difference:
McAuliffe said, “nuts!”
Rush Limbaugh said, “I’m Sorry.”
I agree with your analysis, Sud.
And in the end, Rush has every right to do what he(or Kathryn? :-) felt was right. It’s his choice, not ours.
He will not abandon us though I am disappointed that he hasn’t taken on Romney yet.
