Michelle Obama Wants Fat Kids to Eat Steak
The Stir ^ | November 21, 2011 | Jenny Erikson

Posted on 11/22/2011 3:40:12 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

While in Asia Hawaii last week, First Lady Michelle Obama sat down for a roundtable discussion with Ma’o Organic Farms. Mrs. Obama has made tackling childhood obesity her issue of choice, and has worked hard to ensure that McDonald’s only puts 14 French fries into each Happy Meal.

During the course of the visit, Mrs. Obama revealed that steak and arugula is her favorite meal, and that we should be feeding it to our kids in order to adjust their palates. She said, "People don't have that connection. If they get their palates adjusted to those very interesting flavors, they stay connected."

She went on to say that children in ‘underserved communities’ become overweight because they “aren’t growing up with vegetables because there are no grocery stores.”

The First Lady seems to be just a wee bit confused ... it’s over-serving, not under-serving, that causes obesity. When people take in more calories than their bodies need to function, the extra energy is stored as fat. When people do this on a regular basis, the fat builds up and eventually causes obesity. It’s not exactly rocket science.

Back to the issue at hand: Getting kids to expand their palates by feeding them steak and arugula. With what money does she suggest people purchase those goodies? Personally, my kids aren’t allowed to eat steak, because it’s a rare treat for their dad and me.

We’re too busy paying for $4 a gallon gasoline because President Obama won’t drill for oil. Our water bill has doubled over the last couple of years because liberals in California shut a huge supply of our water off. Our health insurance rates have sky-rocketed, thanks to “new regulations” as our insurer so delicately pointed out in a letter sent to inform us of the price increase.

And Michelle Obama says, “Let them eat steak??”

She is completely out of touch with reality. During this same meeting, she mentioned the vegetable garden that she planted at the White House, and how it’s supposed to be a form of education for young people, to get them to form healthy habits from a young age. This would be the same garden that she tended in her $495 Tory Burch boots, aka her ‘gardening shoes.’

It’s great to want to feed kids lovely organic vegetables and beef from grass-fed cows that were massaged daily by Japanese farmers to tenderize their meat, but that isn’t practical for most people.

If the First Lady wants to be effective in getting people to make healthier food choices, she’s going to have to get a clue about what it’s like to live and raise kids in the real world.

And if she really believes that things like soda and junk food cause obesity, she should campaign to end the use of food stamps for Papa John’s and 7-Eleven. It seems like a cruel joke to tell poor people to eat steak and arugula, then give them ‘free’ money to spend on Coke and take-out food.

Michelle really wants us to eat the excrement sandwiches that she and Barry are serving.

As long as it’s genuine grass-fed beef, this is pretty good advice. Too bad it’s too expensive to eat every day. Then again, maybe Barry will figure out a way to subsidize it for the masses.

Don’t think I’ve ever had arugula. My grandparents eat it all the time, or at least they used to, I’m not up on their current dietary habits.

I thought her favorite food was lobster. Only the biggest and the best for the queen.

When I was a little girl, back in the early ‘sixties, we had to exercise to a record in gym class. The song we heard and followed the exercise instructions from was memorably entitled, “Go You Chicken Fat Go”. It was sung by Robert Preston of the Music Man fame and we had to jump around while it played several times, ending the romp with all the kids shouting, “Go You Chicken Fat Go!!”. Of course, I cannot remember any of us kids being especially chubby since we played outdoors and rode bikes daily. However, I am nearly 60 years old and I remember that tune to this day. I suggest that Michelle Obama resurrect that old ditty and distribute it as she makes her way through these United States. I am sure it would be far more effective than her suggestions are.

I forgot to mention that I think the Chicken Fat song was part of President Kennedy’s Physical Fitness agenda that was so popular during his Presidency. I recall my sister won a President’s Award for Gymnastics in the elementary school we attended. SInce the Obamas think they are the Kennedys is even more reason for Michele to unearth that song!!!

Well..I will give her credit for bringing up child obesity .....it is a HUGE problem. America is full of fat people...and fat kids. It’s a health problem, it’s an image problem, it’s a self confidence problem....and we need to at least get this problem some attention. I also believe in eating organic foods...if you can find them and afford them.

Kids need a lot of animal fats in order to develop both brain and body ! They also need a lot of constructive activiy to ‘burn off their natural energy” in productive ways ! Playing “Bball” isn’t one. Far better they were using that energy to learning manual skills and a “work ethic”. That’s the kind of “shovel ready” jobs programs America needs ! Jobs that foster skills learning and trades exposure to show “intercity kids” there’s avenues to success/independence not involving drugs and crime.....

“Dirty Jobs” Mike Rowe has repeatedly stated/documented skilled jobs are going begging in America. Major projects can’t start because of a lack of skilled workers ! Yet the current administration seems - despite its claims - unable to mobilize its vast resources and “extensive community contacts” to implement programs to address repairs/upgrades to our infrastructure ! Instead it seems to prefer “no risk” financing of low-job number “high tech” “marque” enterprises with directors high on its “contributors” list ! >PS

Why are organic foods better? Why can’t tests tell the difference? More PC crap.

She’s not going to be real popular with the vegetarians nor the vegans. They can take this kind of thing very personally.

Why are organic foods better? Why can’t tests tell the difference? More PC crap.

First of all, organic, fresh vegetables and fruits taste so much better. Second they are not fertilized and given pesticides that are chemicals foreign to the human body (not as God intended). Third of all, there are many microorganisms in soil that are drawn up into the plant. These organisms are living and when we eat the plant products we then receive these living microorganisms into our bodies which transfer their life giving properties to us. Chemicals greatly reduce the amounts of these life transferring microorganisms. Fourth of all, now with genetically engineered seeds taking genes from unrelated plants, fungus etc. and splicing them artificially to other seeds the very essence of the life giving properties that were ordained by God are being tampered with. This is actually akin to sacrilege. God made seeds to reproduce after their kind. When we mess with this we are messing with God. Nothing good can come of it. Once again, this is how The LORD made things to work. He did not intend our crops to be lathered in artificial chemicals just to get more crops in a cheaper way.

If you read the Old Testament, The LORD was extremely intense about making sure the Israelites let the ground go fallow for one year every seven years. This is God's economy. This replenished the ground with essential nutrients for food plants to take up. It was not a casual matter to The LORD. The Israelites did not follow this rule and were punished with being conquered and having to live in a foreign land, Babylon, for seventy years to make up for each year that they did not leave their land go fallow as according to His commandment. We all think that we can do it better than He but when are we going to learn that going cheap may cost us too much in the end.

Almost any "study" can be made to say anything that the supporters of the "study" want them to say. You have to really watch who is doing the study and who is funding it. The people doing the "study" may be ignorant as to what it is that is actually essential. The perimeters that they set may not be valid.

Check out the proliferation of a myriad of diseases these days. This is not coincidental. It is because we are messing around with the very nature, in many ways, that The LORD intended for food to be and we are reaping the horrible consequences.

As far as thinking that only liberals care about the quality of their food I know many Conservatives that care deeply about what they are feeding themselves and their families. To go back to basics and the things that are fundamental are should not be the left's prerogative but should be any true Conservatives quest. Taking care of our families in the best way possible and not being taken in by the propaganda of those who main interest is their own profit should be one of the priorities of Conservatives. The very word conservative implies that we care about basics and going back to them rather they be morally, politically , financially or in the realm of the food we feed our families and the things we find important to spend our money on.

SORRY, didn't finish before it went to print, SHOULD FINISH-----------

The very word conservative implies that we care about basics and going back to them rather then being morally, politically, financially or in the realm of the food we feed our families and the things we find important to spend our money on not responsible. Conservatives above all others should lead responsible lives on every front including the food we eat and feed our families. We should be leading the charge for real and healthy food.

Every time Michelle Obama mentions the White House Veggie garden I have to L O L.... she uses it for photo ops and doesn't know the first damn thing about planting, and caring for a garden..
GARDENS ARE WORK...and lately have become expensive to plant and care for...during dry spells you have to drag out the garden hose and water...pull weeds, hoe, fertilize, and then process either freeze or Can..

I've never seen the two obama kids help in that so called garden...as I said...photo time for Michelle...she and her husband are phonies...

hurry up 2012

I don't know if Mrs. Wookie’s tastes go to steak and/or lobster or Beluga caviar and Dom Perignon champagne. The fact is Mrs. Wookie is lecturing Americans about “healthy” eating while wandering around with a caboose of a rear end about the width of the U.S. Standard Railroad Gage (4 feet, 8-1/2 inches or 1,453 millimeters). And this from a lawyer (who gave up her law license) and has no dietary or nutritional qualifications.

I wish I could find more organic foods ....I was told not to buy NON-organic grapes, as they are one of the highest foods containing the pesticides.
