Beck's Aug 24th Event in Jerusalem: Will any GOP candidates attend? should they?
one man's opinion...

Posted on 05/20/2011 8:58:22 AM PDT by ken5050

Glen Beck announced today that his "Restoring Courage" event will be held in Israel, August 24th, at the southern wall of the Temple Mount. The event, which was first announced a few days ago, is now far more significant given Obama's speech yesterday, in which he called for Israel to return to its pre 1967 borders. This event is going to be huge, no doubt about it. And I'm wondering who will be the first GOP candidate to annonce that he, or she, will attend.

By the way, awesome post, the post you should have made all along. This is FR stuff and justifies the Mods patience.

Americans dont have to go to Israel with Beck to do this

Men don't have to do anything, this is what we call free will

2. Beck claims he thinks he was “asked to go” Who asked him to ??? He has not ever said. THIS is important.

No, frankly it isn't. Events of the past few days have proven that Beck for what ever reason is once again right on the money. And, this is correct in both senses of the double entendre. He is going to make a fortune on an insane bet only a few days before, and perhaps Obama was forced to accelerate plans because of him or Obama's plan always was to attempt to force Israel to capitulate so he can declare that he "made peace" in the middle east. The peace he seeks is the false peace of impending Horror. Nevertheless, it is a call for people to decide where they stand. Pay attention to the message not the messenger. Analyze the message for yourself and decide if it is a true message. God talks to us all, often to the wicked with urgency and hope, that they might do his will.

Throughout the Torah there are generally accepted 613 separate statements attributed to God instructing humans on how they should act. The 10 Commandments encase the minimum standard only, what is necessary for humans to participate in the community of God. However, the first of the Commandments has turned out the be the hardest for many people. But, Commands, Requests or Suggestions it is all the same, the consequence is the same, the urgency in the end is just the same. Love suggests where as Love also demands. To the free spirit, who lives in God's presence, a suggestion is good enough. And, it is received with gratitude and appreciation.

3. God is concerned with the people of Israel, the Jews, the people of His spirit...not the Nation of Israel, the secular government..the physical..

Yes, this is so true. So true. God is deeply concerned.

4. Didya ever think of PRAYING for Israel. In the Name of Jesus of course....and asking God whast He wants ???

You may pray to Jesus, I don't. I have to read the ten in accordance with my tradition. Nevertheless, before I prayed on this issue, I believed that Israel was a problem not a solution. I was straightened out. Israel is a test. Will you pass? Will we?

5. God will have His way regardless...

Though God is the master of all, his favorite vehicle for his work is us. He delights when we listen, and he corrects when we don't. He is patient knowing that even a million years is but a second, and impatient because the suffering of even one child is a horror.

Bless you. Keep posting like this and you will be a credit to FR.

Dream on.. Your whole line of argument is lame. But, at least you don't need 20 pages to say it.

Spoken just like one of many mittbots sitting in their underware posting trash.

We are going to play a version of FREEPER "What's my line?"

We will eventually want the real Dalight to stand up.

Is it the Dalight of post #39?

Bigotry is when you lose ALL perspective between understanding a person's character and lump them into a group. (Dalight, post #39)

Or, is it the Dalight of post #92, when she lumped several posters together into a group as having made certain statements:

If I expect folks to say no to words like Christ Killer, or crap like that, then letting YOU CALL people child rapists and then associate that with Glenn or Mitt as a reason to hate these people. (Dalight, post #92)

More ad hominen...this type using your "lumping several posters into a group" tactic, which you earlier defined as "bigotry."

(Is this more of your "bigotry for thee but not for me" approach?)

Since when have I labeled anybody a "child rapist?" But don't let that stop you from using the "you" word in referencing me to that comment.

This latest comment shows your twisted two-facedness again:

(a) Posts #39 & #92: If you perceive a poster "lumping" people "into a group"...they've supposedly failed to distinguish "a person's character" and the group -- and have apparently lost "ALL perspective" and are therefore guilty of "bigotry."

By your own admission you have failed to distinguish character among individual posters and see fit to lump us into an "anti-Mormon" group based upon statements not made by the group!

But when you do this exact same thing, no self-confessions arise from your keyboard that you are that "bigot" you've self-defined!

(b) Post #33:

You claimed there that "When someone attacks folks based on the criteria that they are a Mormon or a Jew or even a Muslim alone we call that bigotry. This is not part of rational discussion."

Yet what have your ongoing attacks vs. Tennessee Nana on this thread revealed?

It seems your attacks against Nana have been based upon one thing: Her religious comments about Mormons. So you've launched your "attacks...based on the criteria that they are" perceived anti-"Mormon."

If somebody is using solo criteria to critique, it seems you are saying...that's intolerable ("bigotry"). Yet it seems you likewise are using solo criteria -- only instead of "anti-Mormonism" it's your "anti-anti-Mormonism"...(Once again, you define yourself as being guilty of bigotry -- by your very own personal standards)

Wanna explain your religious license to be intolerant (bigoted) toward Tennessee Nana's (& other posters') religious beliefs? Why are you accorded freedom to exercise a solo criteria of an "anti-anti" position???...but an "anti" position comes under your condemnation?

Why isn't that so obvious to you (& all) that you are being two-faced on this?

(c) Then you claimed in post #33 that "I will not do it by BASHING someone for their faith. And, you shouldn't either." And yet what have you been doing throughout this entire thread but to bash & critique the deeply held religious beliefs of others? TN Nana's comments are religiously-based, are they not? And you've openly criticized her...and now you've criticized my religious beliefs as well. (May I remind you that "criticize," is another for "bash?") Which means you've bashed her and others. You've bashed our religious views.

I'll say it again: I always love it when a religious elitist comes on board these threads, gives "thou shalt" edicts like "Thou shalt not bash somebody else's faith" -- all after they've just bashed comments from other poster's religious faith.

So what do we do? Believe your "thou shalt" pulpit edicts? Or what you actually practice?

(d) And then we have yet another angle on this same comment you made above in post #39...further reinforcing your ripe inconsistencies: Bigotry is when you lose all perspective between understanding a person's character and lump them into a group. We are reasonably cautious about folks who belong to faiths like Mormonism especially when you consider some of the things in their teachings.

Why...we would think that if you don't like lumping religious folks into a group that you would have been even more prevalent on FR over the past decade, playing Superman to the Muslims due to the constant posts that tend to lump all Muslims into one group. Right?

Wrong-o, boy-o.

Here we might expect some consistency on this. Yet when asked, "On how many of those threads did you enter therein, and proceed to accuse 1-2 posters of being "bigoted?"
Thousands of such threads?
Hundreds?
Dozens?
A handful?
None? (Except this thread?)...
(I rec'd no response from you on this Q)

Rather inconsistent, aren't you? Here you've had a vast array of FREEPER posters at your very disposal that you could have elected to lecture re: your "thou shalts" about lumping a religious group together. Right? But no. Once again, it seems you utterly fail to apply evenly your lecture circuit tour.

Tell you what: I think right now you are tied for setting the FREEPER Religion section record for most two-faced comments in a single thread! (We just need one more from you to own the record all by yourself!)

There. Fixed!

In my years of posting on the RF, I doubt I have seen a more sanctimonious batch of posts that those posted by dalight who has consistently lectured others for bigotry while employing total bigotry in doing so.

This is quite an accomplishment...I think we need a brand new Inman badge just for this!

You keep on being a rabid RomneyBot who thinks Glenn Beck is a profit sent by the money err mormon god

and I’ll keep right on being the Christian and Conservative that I have been

and my posts will stay the same

Well I found a video where Beck is telling his TV followers just why he is going to Jerusalem

“This journey to Israel for me is personal It’s not about celebrity or teaching anybody a lesson or sending a message to any Earthly power. It is about sending a message to our maker and letting him hear our message as individuals that at this time I will stand and I will be counted”

So it’s not God who “asked” Beck to go to Jerusalem...

Poor God doesnt even know Beck is coming yet...

Poor God doesnt know that theres a problem in Israel..

Ah doesnt it need to be God’s idea for anyone to be a prophet and led by God ???

Got a link to that?

Typical mormon arrogance and alcoholic grandiosity..."sending a message to our maker" and letting him know..that sounds just like someone who went through a ritual in a mormon temple and believes that doing so actually binds God to honor the "covenant"!

But unlike you, most of our Jewish posters call God...G-d..

This is merely an affectation. For certain posters here I adopt this style in their thread, but it has nothing to do with Jewishness.

The religiously bigoted opinions of small minded sanctimonious hypocrites like you sound like from your posting history does not effect me in the slightest..

It is interesting to see you call me a hypocrite, oh hypocrite who calls people names and jumps to conclusions without proof, over and over. You are barely a Christian though I am sure you would never understand that.. and a conservative has the moral sense to be sure before making outrageous claims. And I am sure, nothing I say will affect you as even my praise isn't of interest.

If you looked at my posting history, you haven't looked much..

Now as for the other things.. I will point out..

The Gospel of Mark 12:29-30 mentions that Jesus considered the beginning exhortation of the Shema to be the first of his two greatest commandments: "The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment." KJV So, it seems to me, he would never agree with you on this.

Now, this is a bit of a mistranslation one supposes for the sake of keeping questions to a minimum, but the line actually goes . "Shema Israel, Adonai Eluhenu, Adonai Echad. "Hear, O Israel; The Lord is our God, The Lord is One."

But before you go banging at me.. lets listen to Paul too..

in 1 Corinthians 8:6 vis-à-vis the risen Christ: "But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him." KJV.

I am God's servant and that is good enough for me.. I thank God each day for Christians, though folks like you worry me just the same. If you ever wonder why Jews fear people who call themselves Christians, look in the mirror. Then you will understand why they behave the way they do.

My advice and I believe you will be too ashamed to do it is to take all that you have written and all that I have replied to your pastor, and see how he advises you. Tell me how that comes out.

Keep care..
