A leading Israeli airport security expert says the Canadian government has wasted millions of dollars to install "useless" imaging machines at airports across the country.
"I don't know why everybody is running to buy these expensive and useless machines. I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747," Rafi Sela told parliamentarians probing the state of aviation safety in Canada.
"That's why we haven't put them in our airport," Sela said, referring to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport, which has some of the toughest security in the world.
Sela, former chief security officer of the Israel Airport Authority and a 30-year veteran in airport security and defence technology, helped design the security at Ben Gurion.
He told MPs on the House of Commons transport committee via video conference from Kfar Vradim, Israel, that he wouldn't reveal how to get past the virtual strip-search scanners, but said he can provide briefings to officials with security clearance.

Another thing we do wrong is we don’t secure our airports farther out. Any terrorist could do major damage just walking in the doors. A bunch at a time and we would have hundreds of deaths or injuries.
We don’t want to expend the time and effort needed to do security. The argument is that Israel is so small so it’s easier for them.
Instead we use such stupid methods and it’s getting worse.

We don’t want an innocent person who happens to be Muslim to “get a bad feeling” if we profile him because some of his co-religionists have done evil and we are trying to prevent them doing more.
But it’s OK to grope and Xray our Grandmas’ and little kids’ crotches.
WHERE IS ANY SENSE OF RIGHT AND WRONG HERE???
Political correctness is not, actually, a god. We need to stop worshipping it.
Stop putting political correctness, or what it actually is, the fear of being called a racist, at the pinnacle of the government’s priorities. It screams “We are patsies. Take our planes and blow them up!”

It’s effective. That’s why CAIR tried suing civilians for reporting the suspicious BEHAVIOR of the “flying imams”. The only effective safeguard is when people are looking for TERRORISTS rather than just looking for devices. You can always hide a device, but to change human nature and instinct is much harder. The Milennium Plot was foiled because one woman felt something was not right. It works.
That’s why the Muzzies have to threaten us all with bankrupting lawsuits if we report suspicious BEHAVIOR. But if we ever get to a point where we can’t discriminate on the basis of BEHAVIOR, then we need to empty all the jails and just give up on this whole civilization thing.
Which is precisely what CAIR and the Muzzies are trying to get us to do. If we don’t figure out a way to say no to them, we can kiss civilization good-bye.
This guy should be the hero that starts the ball rolling. My hat is off to him. (OK; I don’t wear a hat. But I wave my hair to him, for sure.)
My wife and I returned from a Holy Land tour last June. We had to pass through something like 12 or 13 possible screening points. The very first was being stopped on the airport roadway at a toll booth-like checkpoint. Our bus was sent to the side of the road where an IDF soldier with AK47 entered the bus, spoke to the driver and tour guide, then walked down the aisle looking at every single face.
Next we entered the airport. There are plain clothes security at the entrances watching everyone entering. You can only begin the check-in procedure 2 hours before your flight. You proceed to an area where your checked bags will be run through the X-ray machine while you stand by. While waiting you are interviewed by an IDF person, your passport is reviewed, and its photo is held up next to your face. Lots of questions, and everyone is questioned here. If answers not right, you are pulled out of the line. Then your bags go through the X-ray machine. If the inspector is not comfortable you and your bags are taken aside and you have to open your bags for inspection.
After that, you get to walk over to the airline counter and check your bags in and turn in your ticket. You are not done yet. You have to pass through metal detectors and have your carry-on bags checked out. Then there is immigration to review your passport and stamp it with an exit visa. It just keeps going on and on. Even at the gate, you are questioned and may again have your carry-on bags searched. I have missed some of the other checkpoints. As I recall, I counted a total of 12 or 13 possible points at which a passenger could be screened but may not have be selected to be screened. Believe me, they profile to the hilt. They know what to ask and how to put you on the spot.

I think “human resources” doctrine is partly to blame for that. Low wages, of course, are the primary cause, but if someone with impressive credentials applies, he is rejected for being “overqualified.” So, they end up giving the job to someone for whom that low wage is appropriate: as you said, a dropout or a moron.
Actually, these were some of Old George’s flunkies, specifically a Republican from NY, Senator D’Amato.
