The original Mummy scared me when I saw it on TV. It gave me nighmares but caused me to take up Egyptology!

You and I must be the same age ... I came home and kept checking my parent’s necks for weeks after that. My two older brothers took me to the movie ‘cause they couldn’t go unless they took their little brother along’. Parents thought they were going to an Abbott and Costello movie!

This is the one.... scared the H*LL out of me.
Superman
Season 1, Episode 25: The Unknown People: Part I
Original Air Date—23 November 1951
Clark Kent and Lois Lane travel to Silsby, Texas, site of the deepest well ever drilled. But when they arrive, the well is being shut down and the oil company manager present isn’t saying why. Meanwhile, two short beings with large heads and furry hands come up from the well to explore. Luke Benson leads a mob of townspeople wanting to kill the “unknown people.” Despite Superman’s efforts to calm things down, the mob has tracked the two creatures to the top of a dam, trying to kill them. What the mob doesn’t know is the creatures cause things they touch to glow in the dark — and may be radioactive.

Season 1, Episode 26: The Unknown People: Part II
Original Air Date—23 November 1951
One of the “unknown people” is shot while atop a dam near Silsby, Texas. Superman catches him before he falls into water and takes him to the Silsby hospital. Superman, in his Clark Kent identity, assists a doctor who operates on the creature. The doctor discovers his patient has all the organs and internal body structure as humans. Meanwhile, the Luke Benson-led mob tries to kill the other visitor from the center of the Earth. That creature escapes, later bringing up more of his people along with a weapon. Superman races to defuse an explosive situation.

Plus, I was terrified of the Jolly Green Giant. I would have nightmares that he was coming after us as my family tried to escape down the road in our Ford Fairlane 500.

Kronos
The Thing
Invaders from Mars (and I agree, the ending was superb!)
The Day the Earth Stood Still

Not a movie, but the first episode of “The Outer Limits” called “The Galaxy Being” with Cliff Robertson was pretty scary.

I was also scared by the “Twilight Zone” episode entitled “Obsolete” with Fritz Weaver and Burgess Meredith.

Rear Window. The butchering tools, the suspense of the footsteps coming, the helplessness... Wow.

When I was really young it was the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. After that it was Friday the 13th. Especially the scene where you can see Jason running in the woods through the window. Yikes!

It was really stupid (so bad that MST3K used it), but I think I watched The Screaming Skull at just the exact wrong age as a kid, and it stuck with me for decades. Actually, up until I saw it on MST3K - then I was ashamed it ever freaked me.

Saw this at a drive in when I was about 8. Every sound out in the woods at night was a potential bigfoot for years.

Ah, Salem's Lot. Scared the bejeezus out of me when I was little. I just saw it again the other day, and even though the film has that cheesy 70's look and feel to it, it is still creepier than any vampire movie made in the last 10 years. The way the kid's little brother floats up to the window and scratches on the glass - gaaaa!

Oh, and "Look at me! Look at me, teacher!"

“The Blood on Satan’s Claw”

British horror. I use to sneak out to the tv room at midnite Saturdays after the local channels were off the air and watch The Ghoul hosting bad movies outta Detroit.
