Under President Obama’s new policy, however, if the state that has just attacked us with biological or chemical weapons is “in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty,” explained Gates, then “the U.S. pledges not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against it.”
Imagine the scenario: Hundreds of thousands are lying dead in the streets of Boston after a massive anthrax or nerve gas attack. The president immediately calls in the lawyers to determine whether the attacking state is in compliance with the NPT. If it turns out that the attacker is up-to-date with its latest IAEA inspections, well, it gets immunity from nuclear retaliation. (Our response is then restricted to bullets, bombs and other conventional munitions.)
However, if the lawyers tell the president that the attacking state is NPT noncompliant, we are free to blow the bastards to nuclear kingdom come.
This is quite insane. It’s like saying that if a terrorist deliberately uses his car to mow down a hundred people waiting at a bus stop, the decision as to whether he gets hanged or 100 hours of community service hinges entirely on whether his car had passed emissions inspections.
Apart from being morally bizarre, the Obama policy is strategically loopy. Does anyone believe that North Korea or Iran will be more persuaded to abjure nuclear weapons because they could then carry out a biological or chemical attack on the United States without fear of nuclear retaliation?
The naivete is stunning.

Thanx for the ping.Very interesting video and my gut instinct says the caller was most likely legit.However,I doubt those transcripts will ever see the light of day.IMO,Obama was groomed/trained/indoctrinated(starting at a very young age)to be a marxist/socialist.He’s still protected by the same individuals who are pulling his strings today.Do i sound paranoid:)?

Thanks for you continuing effort on this thread. I have a question comment. This thread is somewhat unique in structure compared to most ping lists. For instance I jointly administer the CWII ping list and we flag individual articles as they are put up. So over a month you might get maybe 8 or 9 articles, most of which top out around 75 or 100 comments, like most threads on FR.
We also have a keyword, which lets you find articles from the past. I see advantages to this: you can decide which of the flagged articles you want to read, or skip, when you look at your ping list.
I see disadvantages compared to your “rolling thread” concept: it’s not all there.
The rolling thread is interesting, but eventually you do have to break it. We’re at 3500 posts, at this point it’s actually HARDER to find stuff in this thread than if they were individually posted and ping’d like most other lists.
Anyway, just some observations. Not a criticism, but I wonder if you have ever thought about going to the more typical ping-list and ping-articles style? Maybe there is a different interaction here? People are on it every day. I check in about once a week and usually don’t comment because there are four stories between the one I want to talk about an the current marker in the thread.
Thanks for your comment. As you know this thread was started many years ago by Velveeta, ran into some challenges then she ran into some family and personal challenges that prevented her from posting what is basically an anti-terrorism and related subjects thread.
The posts are pretty much all on the same theme/sector of latest events/matters rather than a variety where finding something specific is not that critical and the time line rolling ping allows people to “start” their scroll at the end or last post to stay informed on the latest “news” on the general subject matter of the thread.
My effort is to provide information, not simply trigger comments/discussion, though comments are greatly appreciated and welcome and informational in themselves, providing a feel for FR opinions and viewpoints. These are educational in themselves and food for thought for everyone who reads the thread. I wish there were more of these.
One of the challenges in America is that our populace has been or still is so far removed from the nasty side of global political manipulations, that I use Alan’s and my decades of international, experience of various civilian and some military kinds at high levels, to point out or focus on what might slide by “unrecognized”.
If you have never seen or even heard of a tiger (or other large feline), you might in all simplicity and your own gentleness of soul try to pet this beautiful pussy cat. As people are ignorantly doing with a very dangerous, clearly evil Obama, using the same very recognizable Soviet playbook as Khomeini did.
Obama is to America, in great detail of policy and tactics and strategy and destructive anti-American activism what the Soviet driven Marxist-Islamist Ayatollah Khomeini was to Iran.
Long experience with confronting the Islamic founders and terrorism of the current regime and widespread regional knowledge provides us with a built in ability to spot things, which we try to share.
