The First Time I Heard of Barack (with additional info)
Free Republic ^ | Sept 19, 2009 | Tom Fife

Posted on 09/20/2009 1:17:34 AM PDT by BP2

Has anyone heard of this before? I did a search but came up negative.

Very interesting and if you list to the tape the man sounds very genuine.

Here’s his written confession which happened to a physicist when he was in Russia:

The leader of the Communist Party USA may not be the only one doing Communist cartwheels. Brace yourself for what I’m about to say next. Last fall, prior to the presidential election, a friend of mine, Dr. Wiley Drake, former second vice president for the Southern Baptist Convention, sent me an e-mail on which I didn’t report. It just seemed too extreme. It was from a software developer
he met named Tom Fife who told of how he first heard of the name “Barack.”

I can’t prove whether it’s true or not, but in light of all that is happening, it just doesn’t seem that far-fetched anymore. All I know is that Tom Fife is a real guy – not some e-mail scam. I’ve talked to him. He was a government contractor with an active security clearance who took notes on his trips for debriefings with the Defense Intelligence Agency within the Department of Defense. This is what he wrote down after it happened in 1992, before anyone ever heard the name “Barack”:

The first time I heard of Barack

During the period of roughly February 1992 to mid-1994, I was making frequent trips to Moscow, Russia, in the process of starting a software development joint-venture company with some people from the Russian scientific community. One of the men in charge on the Russian side was named V. M.; he had a wife named T.M.

V. was a level-headed scientist, while his wife was rather deeply committed to the losing Communist cause – a cause she obviously was not abandoning.

One evening, during a trip early in 1992, the American half of our venture were invited to V. & T.’s Moscow flat as we were about to return to the States. The party went well and we had the normal dinner discussions.

As the evening wore on, T. developed a decidedly rough anti-American edge – one her husband tried to quietly rein in.

The bottom line of the tirade she started against the United States went something like this:

“You Americans always like to think that you have the perfect government and your people are always so perfect. Well then, why haven’t you had a woman president by now? You had a chance to vote for a woman vice president and you didn’t do it.”

The general response went something along the lines that you don’t vote for someone just because of their sex. Besides, you don’t vote for vice president, but the president and vice president as a ticket.

“Well, I think you are going to be surprised when you get a black president very soon.”

The consensus we expressed was that we didn’t think there was anything innately barring that. The right person at the right time and sure, America would try to vote for the right person, be he or she, black or not.

“What if I told you that you will have a black president very soon and he will be a Communist?”

The out-of-the-blue remark was met by our stares. She continued, “Well, you will; and he will be a Communist.”

It was then that the husband unsuccessfully tried to change the subject; but she was on a roll and would have nothing of it. One of us asked, “It sounds like you know something we don’t know.”

“Yes, it is true. This is not some idle talk. He is already born, and he is educated and being groomed to be president right now. You will be impressed to know that he has gone to the best schools of presidents. He is what you call ‘Ivy League.’ You don’t believe me, but he is real and I even know his name. His name is Barack. His mother is white and American and his father is black from Africa. That’s right, a chocolate baby! And he’s going to be your president.”

She became more and more smug as she presented her stream of detailed knowledge and predictions so matter-of-factly – as though all were foregone conclusions. “It’s all been thought out. His father is not an American black, so he won’t have that social slave stigma. He is intelligent and he is half white and has been raised from the cradle to be an atheist and a Communist. He’s gone to the finest schools. He is being guided every step of the way and he will be irresistible to America.”

We sat there not knowing what to say. She was obviously very happy that the Communists were doing this and that it would somehow be a thumbing of their collective noses at America: They would give us a black president and he’d be a Communist to boot. She made it quite obvious that she thought that this was going to breathe new life into world Communism. From this and other conversations with her, she always asserted that Communism was far from dead.

She was full of little details about him that she was eager to relate. I thought that maybe she was trying to show off that this truly was a real person and not just hot air.

She rattled off a complete litany. He was from Hawaii. He went to school in California. He lived in Chicago. He was soon to be elected to the Legislature. “Have no doubt: he is one of us, a Soviet.”

At one point, she related some sort of San Francisco connection, but I didn’t understand what the point was and don’t recall much about that. I was just left with the notion that she considered the city to be some sort of a center for their activity here.

Since I had dabbled in languages, I knew a smattering of Arabic. I made a comment: “If I remember correctly, ‘Barack’ comes from the Arabic word for ‘Blessing.’ That seems to be an odd name for an American.” She replied quickly, “Yes. It is ‘African,’” she insisted, “and he will be a blessing for world Communism. We will regain our strength and become the number one power in the world.”

She continued with something to the effect that America was at the same time the great hope and the great obstacle for Communism. America would have to be converted to Communism, and Barack was going to pave the way.

So, what does this conversation from 1992 prove?

Well, it’s definitely anecdotal. It doesn’t prove that Obama has had Soviet Communist training nor that he was groomed to be the first black American president, but it does show one thing that I think is very important. It shows that Soviet Russian Communists knew of Barack from a very early date. It also shows that they truly believed among themselves that he was raised and groomed Communist to pave the way for their future. This report on Barack came personally to me from one of them long before America knew he existed.

Although I had never before heard of him, at the time of this conversation Obama was 30-plus years old and was obviously tested enough that he was their anticipated rising star.

There have been attempts to discredit Fife with made up details, but the original version of Fife’s story is posted online. Fife can be reached at: thefife@hotmail.com.

Whether you believe this story or not, believe what the Communist Party USA has to say. Spending our way to the largest government in American history won’t stimulate anything … other than the agenda of the Communist Party: taking over the private sector and capping people’s salaries. And that’s just for starters. Call your senators at 202-224-3121 right now to stop this massive government takeover masquerading as a “stimulus” spending bill. Forget the hype: The world isn’t going to end if this bill isn’t passed, but democracy may end if it does.

I felt this needed its own thread - it's off the original link above. This information has been shared with some ... might as well share it with all ...

A research group tried to contact this man of the “The first time I heard of Barack” story back in January to no avail. His purported name was Tom Fife. Here’s the link:

http://gunnyg.wordpress.com/2009/03/14/update-the-first-time-i-heard-of-barackby-tom-fife/

It’s next to impossible to prove the following - as nearly everything else about Obama's life before October 1992 - but it is believed by some researchers that there MAY be some correlation with this Tom Fife story and the nationally-published story BELOW from Feb 13, 1992, which was a plea for cash from the Left elite to get communist and socialist “students” out of Moscow.

One of those students, curiously, was a law student, born in 1961, with the last name "Obama" - what are the odds of that? It is believed that "Roman Obama" is NOT from Equatorial Guinea, rather he was going THROUGH then-Communist E.G. to his final destination ... elsewhere.

Additionally, it is believed that the man ON THE RIGHT in the photo below is NOT “Roman Obama”, despite what the cutline says. The photo AND name "Roman Obama" was likely a front, all staged for later deniability. It is thought that the “powers” in Russia and their allies needed to “drop” the Obama name so his "backers" - who would recognize the name - would respond with the required urgency (and money) to get him out of Moscow as the ruble collapsed.

It is further believed that Barack Obama was actually a foreign exchange student at Patrice Lumumba (Friendship) University - thus why BHO does NOT want to disclose his college records. Some think Barack Obama was out of the country as a foreign-exchange student - off and on during the 80s - leading into Obama's post-grad work at Harvard up to summer 1992. The Left elite needed to get him OUT of Moscow before the violence kicked in and BACK to where he was suppose to be "planted" ... perhaps the US:

Photobucket

And YES - I know how "Tom Claney-ish" this sounds, but it does explain:
- the black holes in Obama's past during the 80s and early-90s
- his media training and smooth persona (taught at Friendship Univ to selected "future leaders")
- the gush of campaign donations in Aug-Sept 08 (likely from overseas donors using cash gift cards) AND
- his current perceived UN-American policies and relinquishing of American sovereignty to other nations

is there a date on that paper? Yes, here's the text version:

SOVIET UNION'S DEMISE LEAVES LUMUMBA STUDENTS IN A BIND
Watertown Daily Times (NY) - Friday, February 14, 1992
Author: Associated Press

For nearly a decade, Roman Obama's life at Patrice Lumumba University was almost paradise. He studied for free and got warm clothes and cheap airline tickets that let him see the world.

"We had so many possibilities. Maybe it was not a luxurious life, but we could travel and do things," said Obama, a 31-year-old law student from Equatorial Guinea .

The former Soviet Union spent huge sums of money over the past few decades to educate tens of thousands of foreign students - mainly from the developing world - in the name of "peoples' friendship."

Young people from Asia, Africa and Latin America studied medicine, agronomy, law and Marxist economics at universities and institutes around the country.

For those students, the place to be was Patrice Lumumba , founded by Nikita S. Khrushchev in the early 1960s when dozens of Latin American, Asian and African countries won their independence.

Now Lumumba 's dorms are crumbling. The Russian government and the university have little money. Once a Soviet showcase, the university and its students are a burden.

The entrance to all dormitories at Lumumba are guarded by police who demand to see the passports of all visitors.

In Obama's building, the lights do not work in the elevators, the garbage chute is clogged and heating is a problem.

Named for a Congolese revolutionary, Lumumba was considered in the West to be a ideological training ground for future cadres in Soviet-backed regimes such as Ethiopia, Nicaragua and Vietnam.

As the collapse of communism became more apparent, Obama revised his thesis to address the problems of cooperation between the International Monetary Fund and Africa. He hopes to work in private practice or for his country's government.

Sitting on his bed, which takes up most of his dorm room on the 13th floor of a deteriorating high-rise, Obama wonders how he'll survive his last semester.

His scholarship of 137 rubles a month is now worth about $1.37. He has no money to pay for the airline ticket that would cost 215,000 rubles to return home to Equatorial Guinea .

Obama's room is more cramped than usual. His countryman Luis Alonso, who was studying in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, managed to buy a plane ticket at the old price and is headed home. But hotels cost too much so Alonso is camping out with Obama until he gets an exit visa.

"It's impossible for us to study. The universities have no money and our government has no money. We are hostages," said another countryman, Enrique Edu, 29, a law student at Baku University in Azerbaijan.

Edu came to Moscow to plead for help for his wife, their child and about 150 other students from Equatorial Guinea in the former Soviet Union.

Baku University no longer gives foreign students any money and wants foreign students to pay a dollar a day for their dorm rooms, Edu said. He still gets his former Soviet stipend of 150 rubles ($1.50) but is not sure how long even that small sum will continue.

The students' plight was raised last week at a meeting of heads of government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Deputy Prime Minister Gennady Burbulis of Russia said the commonwealth members agreed to seek new accords "taking into account the obligations of the former Soviet Union and preserve them in order to guarantee normal vital activity of foreign students."

Obama remembers the days when he and his friends used to be able to buy airplane and train tickets for rubles. They went around the world, often stopping in West Berlin to buy electronic goods that they would bring back and sell for high prices in the Soviet Union.

Now, they can't afford even a second-class train ticket to Berlin, and Obama said that "these days, life is good if we have bread and chicken."

Communism was definitely still HUGE in a lot of the world in the 80s when some of this grooming might have taken place. I certainly crossed paths with many people in various countries including this one, at college, who revered whatever they thought communism was.

And certainly the Soviets at the time were extremely confident about their indoctrination techniques. They deserved to be; they won over much of the youth in West Germany, and they weren’t doing badly in other European countries either.

Would they have groomed someone like an Obama to be the stealth candidate for President here? Does anyone need to even debate that?

But was Barack Obama that guy? No way to know, unless of course his school records showed him here, stateside, for all four of his undergraduate years.

Certainly that Obama was not Barack.

Anyone's guess, really...

When you start researching the events surrounding Barack in the 1980s (Occidental, Columbia & Harvard) and the early-1990s (Harvard), you'll find that many people who SHOULD know him well don't even remember who he was.

In talking with folks in the intelligence community, this is certainly plausible.

I'm disclosing this correlation made between both stories, to see if there's any other connections from other researchers which might come about - from others who might have other dots to connect to these ...

I dunno.

Remember when he went to Russia and he was detained?

YEP - and what an ODD incident that was, huh?

Charles Digges,

Lugar delegation detained for three hours in Perm after inspecting nuke weapons facility

A US delegation headed by Republican Senator Richard Lugar, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was detained Sunday for three hours at an airport in the Siberian city of Perm, Russia before being allowed to leave the country for Ukraine in a diplomatically chaotic incident Sunday.

US officials were nonetheless anxious to downplay the incident in an apparent effort to avoid diplomatic fallout with the increasingly hard-line regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has publicly expressed dismay over a number of US-Russian disarmament programmes.

"It's unfortunate," Lugar said in an interview after boarding his plane bound for Ukraine, according to US and Russian press reports. "It illustrates a dysfunctional state where the left and right hand don't know what either is doing and people are enforcing their whims of the day without deference to the world."

Lugar, a 13-year veteran of cutting through US-Russian disarmament red tape, nonetheless put a tactful face on the incident.

"Russians in the past had placed severe limitations on inspections at these storage sites, so this is a significant breakthrough," said Lugar, who is the co-author of the 1991 Co-operative Threat Reduction programme (CTR) which he wrote with then-Democratic Georgia Senator Sam Nunn.

Lugar, Senator Barack Obama—the junior Democratic Illinois Senator also of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee—as well as the rest of the US delegation, who are on a weeklong nuclear disarmament tour among former Soviet states, spent several hours at a weapons destruction site outside Perm before returning to the city airport, officials from the US Embassy in Moscow told Bellona Web Monday.

The delegation was in Russia as part of a week-long tour of major weapons facilities in former Soviet republics, where U.S. funds are being used to secure or destroy nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. Russia recently agreed to open sensitive sites to U.S. inspection, a development that Lugar heralded at a news conference Friday in Moscow.

Nils Båhmer/Bellona
The 41-year old Obama, having won one of Illinois’ two Senatorial seats in 2005, is seen by many on Capitol Hill as heir-apparent to many of the non-proliferation concerns spearheaded by Lugar.

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor the Federal Agency for Atomic Energy (Rosatom) had any comment on the brief detention of the high-ranking US officials

The specifics of the delay
When the US delegation attempted to board their plane, local Russian border officials stepped in and demanded to search the American aircraft before takeoff. International law, however, protects the US military plane from searches, which lead to a stand-off between customs officials and the group.

American officials, citing a US-Russian agreement that does not allow such inspections, refused to allow the search of the plane, leading to the three-hour delay, according to Andy Fisher, a spokesman for Lugar who is on the trip.

Fisher said in a statement that the group was treated "just fine," although members were held in an uncomfortably stuffy room adjacent to the tarmac and allowed out onto an adjoining porch area only after they surrendered their passports.

"This is not the first time this has happened," said Fisher, noting that a delegation including Lugar was briefly detained two years ago in Perm. "It may be some kind of internal bureaucratic problem."

The seemingly bureaucratic misunderstanding escalated, ultimately involving the White House, the State Department, and a host of military officials in Washington and each of their Russian counterparts in Moscow, an official at the US Embassy said.

Lugar’s group arrived in Kiev, Ukraine, late Sunday. After Ukraine, the delegation is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan, US embassy officials said.

Senator Chuck Hagel also faced exit difficulties
Separately, a spokesman at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow said Nebraska’s Republican Senator Chuck Hagel was briefly delayed at an airport in another Siberian city, Irkutsk, because of a problem with flight clearance paperwork.

Hagel was in the region to tour a nearby natural gas deposit site as part of a trip to study energy issues. The issue was resolved after the embassy contacted the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Hagel flew on to Bulgaria, a diplomat in Moscow said.

Well, it doesn't look like this can be proved, but a story that bothered me in the same vein was the one of the captured laptop in Columbia. It belonged to a high honcho of FARC. In it, we find an e-mail that mentioned Obama's people would meet with Hugo Chavez. It assured the reader that Obama would be president. This was wayyyy before he was even close to Hillary. She was thought to be the front runner and a shoe in, but the e mail was sure it would be Obama. That same laptop info freed many hostages held by FARC and seemed to have given info on many things close to FARC and Hugo Chavez.

Course you might wonder why Hugo and Obama would be communicating while he was a Senator, but hey, he seems to have many commie friends. Another bone chiller is how did they know it would be him months before even the Dems even knew?

Read a good part of it, particularly the story about the dinner in Moscow and the prediction by the wife of the Russian joint venture partner, an unrecostructed communist, after vodka, on Citizen Wells alongwith other interesting stuff. Thanks for the additional info.

Regardless of whether this story has credence, we don’t need anecdotes to know who Obama is and what he stands for. His words and deeds on record speak for themselves. He told Chicago-based NPR in 2001 that the Constitution needs to “shift” from “a charter of negative liberties” to “saying what the federal and state governments must do on your behalf,” creating “redistributive change.” There is no question he means socialism, which has communism as its political brethren. So-called positive liberties are entitlements which have precisely the opposite effect of rights, curtailing liberty and empowering the state to control men’s lives. He is an avowed radical and a menace to liberty who surrounds himself with avowed radical menaces to liberty. Everything he does, everything he says, and everything he associates himself with should be considered suspect.

Spread the wealth! Sadly, his supporters either A)Don’t believe it or B) don’t care or C) think communism is good. Public education (indoctrination).

“I have heard the story before but the newspaper is new.”

Same here. I read this story...I believe it was just before the election but I can't recall where.

Nothing but nothing would surprise me.

Our intelligence agencies need to come to our aid, now.

See this, photo is clear too:

The researchers following this believe the photo is fake/staged, as well as the name "Roman Obama". Both were fronts to protect the person who would eventually be "planted". The KEY was to feed the story to the AP, who would then publish it nationwide, and then eventually worldwide. It was meant to illicit a financial response from "supporters" for Obama and others trapped in deteriorating Russia.

BTW, notice the bottom headline on the Watertown version ABOVE (YES - it's very real):

New World Order Evolves as U.S. Falls Behind

Sorry, but ...

WTF?!

The reporter either got thir ages backward or got them all mixed up. She probably had notes and stuff and wrote the article somewhere else.

We researched the original reporter months back. Her name escapes me at the moment, but I remember she's a bigtime Lib, who I think went off to Paris for a while and might be back in NY now...

She had no relevant information, btw, when she was contacted about this ... it very much seemed that she didn't take the photos herself ...

Odd the Chicago paper carried ran the story but used another guys name:

Third World students stranded in Russia
[FINAL EDITION, C]
Chicago Tribune (pre-1997 Fulltext) - Chicago, Ill.
Author: Vincent J. Schodolski, Chicago Tribune.
Date: Feb 16, 1992
Start Page: 23
Section: NEWS
Text Word Count: 796
Abstract (Document Summary)

When Yadate Debrework came here six years ago to study international law, the world had barely heard of Mikhail Gorbachev, there was still a country called the Soviet Union, and the young Ethiopian had enough money to survive.

“I can’t even afford to go home,” said the 31-year-old graduate student. He will complete his studies at the Patrice Lumumba University this summer and literally does not have the fare back to Ethiopia.

Debrework and an estimated 84,000 other students from all over the world have found themselves abandoned as the economic collapse that accompanied the USSR’s demise left the government without money to support them.

>>> That is 3 days after it was in the RECORD

In those days, an AP story that wasn’t timely might have been run several days after it was posted by the AP - depending on the needs of the editor and the copy space needed for print at the smaller newspapers...
