I believe Petain's supposed treason is controversial.

Had Arnold died at Saratoga, he would have died a hero. History obviously had other plans. He was really quite typical of what we see from the left these days.

He didn't believe we could win without his leadership so he set out to make sure we didn't.

I dont like Kerry, but that IMHO is very wrong. John flip-flop Kerry is no traitor, just another blowhard senator, and we shouldn't water down the term with such allegations.

There is a famous traitor from the Civil War who *was* a Congressman and whose name escapes me, a copperhead anti-war Democrat who bashed the US Civil War: Van De Kamp (sp???)
Can anybody help me out?

John Kerry's involvement in the Winter Soldier movement, his testimony before the Fulbright committee, his debate with O'Neill on The Dick Cavett Show, and his pow-wow with the Viet Cong in Paris make it very clear that he is a despicible traitor... both to his Swift boat brethren and to his country.

I agree, and would add that he attended a Viet Nam Veterans Against the War meeting, during which a vote was taken on whether to assassinate members of the Senate who supported the war. He did this while still a member of the military, and did not report it to his superior officers.

Brutus? Cassius? So killing the dictator Ceasar was unpatriotic? The only thing interesting about this post is the inclusion of Alger Hiss. Traitor then hero?

Jane Fonda. John Murtha. Sean Penn. The entire editorial board of the NYT.

A few of you are missing the point of my post by getting hung up on who should and who shouldn't be on the list. The point was the addition of William Keller, the editor-in-chief of the NY Times to this list of notorious traitors.

To add to this...it's widely known that the VC were having problems with swift boat operations...that is until Kerry met with them in Paris...then all of a sudden the VC seemed to know everything about the swift boat operations.

That my friends is the very definition of a traitor.

"John flip-flop Kerry is no traitor,"

You've got to be kidding.

Also;

"Celebrating the 29th anniversary of the fall of Saigon, the North Vietnamese general who led his forces to victory said Friday he was grateful to leaders of the U.S. anti-war movement, one of whom was presidential candidate John Kerry. "I would like to thank them," said Gen. Vo Nguyen Giap

I guess as a Navy Lieutenant gave him the right to talk with the enemy in a time of war.
