NO WAY would I have said that or even implied it...it is so far back I have to go and see what the context was...
Off hand I think it must have been a comment on what people are doing locally to prepare, and how seriously they are taking planning.
OK went back and read the early posts.
I was referring to my concern that all the people making such complete preparations would have such an emotional investment that they would need an outlet for proving that they were right to do so.
A weather emergency might prove the outlet for satisfying the need for preparation and not make it possible for a “spark” to light the “fight” they and I too, am preparing for...
Maybe I have only clouded the point I was making?
Definitely not saying canning is wrong. I have done it all my life and recently wondered why classes were needed. I could use a class on salting, drying or dehydration...they said “what?”. Sometimes it hurts to be OLD!
