Ryan is a good man, but does not redeem the abortionist/homosexualist statist Romney
Aug 11, 2012 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 08/11/2012 4:42:48 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.

But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.

And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.

And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.

That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.

Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.

Great post. Thank you. Poor Ryan, I believe, will try as he is a good man, but the deed is done so long as Romney is anywhere near a Republican ticket. Hope he leaves the office in four, if not the ticket, for poor Ryan. Given what and who he has to work with, poor Ryan has at least made more sober suggestions to address spending, but got laughed out off the stage for all his extensive effort.

But, this country as we know it will cease to exist if Obama is reelected. You are helping the other team, although I know that is not your intent.

And, I understand YOUR point!! The only problem is that I am weary of having to choose from the lesser of the two evils.

Why is it that what was once the most powerful nation on earth is capable of only having a choice between swampwater and raw sewage for its leader?? After 230+ years as a sovereign nation, we can't do ANY better than either Obama/Biden or Romney/Ryan!??

This is a sad commentary on the road to oblivion that we have travelled as a nation. Rather than a choice betwen the lesser of two evils, wouldn't it be refreshing and worth all the gnashing of teeth or water fountain discussions if our choice were between two extremely qualified, highly motivated (and motivating!) candidates?? Instead, we have a choice betwen the dregs remaining on the bottom of the barrel.

A conservative GOP congress will hold Obama in check, but will kowtow to a liberal Romney out of party loyalty. That is reality. What reality is that? Some alternative reality? Kind of like how the 'conservative' justices on the Supreme Court held Obama in check? Like they did in Congress when Obama gave amnesty by Executive Fiat? Like they did when Obama cut medicaid in Obamacare? You're putting all your faith into the some reality that principled conservatives will be elected this November and that only Constitutional laws will be enacted, and that Obama will stop running this country as a socialist Emperor? And I guess all the RINO's will be struck by lightning on November 1, 2012?

Please see my post #522. It was meant for you as well as SE Mom, and I thought I’d included you in the “To:” section. I hadn’t. I apologize for the error.

Jim: I am a true blue member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Always been and always will be. (See my other posts today and earlier).

I am also a former fighter pilot, Harvard trained attorney with a PhD in public policy analysis who is an entrepreneur and father of 5. I yield to none in my commitment to constitutional values and dedication to the importance of public and private virtue.

That is why there is much about Mitt's policies I disagree with. I know him and he knows me. Have drafted a personal letter to him urging he swiftly rethink his failure to lead on moral issues, particularly when it comes to nominating Supreme Court justices.

Nevertheless, he and his running mate can make a difference on economic issues. All the while, we can join with Tea Party conservatives, and with Ryan, to beat the drum on moral issues, encouraging Mitt to move to the right. He respects numerical analysis and there is much of that can be assembled to persuade his thinking.

But your unmitigated opposition to Romney based on your personal religious test is not only unconstitutional, it amounts to a kind of religious racism. Think about it.

You may not believe that God loves us enough to communicate directly to mankind today through living prophets and apostles, as well as individually through the Holy Ghost. That is your prerogative. I may disagree with you on that point, but I am certainly not going to condemn you to Hell for your belief. And according to my understanding of the religion, neither is the Lord.

Nevertheless, I don't think that is the real reason for your attitude toward Romney. If it were Glenn Beck running for President, I doubt you would be so adamantly opposed.

I applaud your vision in creating this site and have learned much here. And if you wish, I will be happy to conduct a full scale discussion based on biblical truths and references. As well I will be happy to continue my effort to correct the total distortion of what many on the board perceive about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In the end, Jim, I would hope you would put aside your religious biases and make the obvious choice while working with all of us to motivate positive moral change in society, in our families and in our politics.

Kind regards

Our people did not come out on top like I or you would have liked.

That because satan's pawn was involved. I will never vote for EVIL for America or taint myself because I put my stamp of approval on all his wicked deeds. NEVER!

I will choose Mitt because I don’t want our country to go down the same road a Greece.

Greece is not a nation under God! So you obviously do want to go down the SAME road as them!

"And Jesus said unto them, Why are you fearful, O you of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm". Matt 8:26

Do you people only read what you want to read or do you not have the ability to comprehend?

I said Romney was not my first choice. I realize the problems involved with him. I get it!

I simply said that for ME......for MY REASONING.....for where I AM at this point in time, I cannot separate the lessons from my family from my decisions. I thought this was a “FREE REPUBLIC”.....not just a place where you could only speak your mind when other people agreed!

He is most certainly not playing by the same rules.

The only tool he has left is the executive order. We've taken the others away. When we have 2/3rds of the senate, maybe you'll see he is just a man after all.

The Mormonism thing was just an internal squabble.

Here’s my objection to Romney:

Both sides work for the same people. That’s why our choices are so lousy. The real money picks the actors up for the role.

The premise needs to be examined if casting a vote as provided for in the US constitutional system of political elections in fact amounts to a “stamp of approval” on whatever wicked thing the votee has, or even is foreseeably likely, to do.

You might cast a vote for a candidate because you love the candidate, but there may be other reasons.

Baptists think Catholics are wrong; Catholics think Jews are wrong; Jews think Christians are wrong and Christians think Mormons are wrong. I suggest perhaps we let God sort it out and not engage in Internet flame wars over our religious beliefs or trash each other’s religions for sport. Mormons seem to me to be hard- working and patriotic Americans.

And Romney, for all his perceived faults, is indubitably patriotic. Which is more than can be said for the current occupant of 1600, who seems to hate this country with every fiber of his being.

I will vote for a flawed patriot over a Marxist narcissist any day.

If God can use a donkey,

He can use a Mormon

Yes, God let Obama rule over us. Now who can tell the difference in a donkey and a certain liberal Morman?

There really isn't any polite way to call someone a religious racist..even in Harvard long form. Holding strong to your belief system is not being a bigot or a racist. Frankly..I'm sick of this distortion.

"UnChristian? Don’t joke with us."

You are a little late. You have had since 2008 and before to rally the church to stop Romney. Christendom has failed. So, now it is time to preserve to Republic, unless you WANT Obama to be elected and watch the blood flow in the streets. Do you have kids? Preserve the Republic and then fix the church...then you wont have Romney candidates in the future.
